Attractive Nectar. The Blood Vine produces a sweet smelling nectar in its central leaf bulb used for attracting prey. Any beast or humanoid that approaches to a radius of 15 ft. must succeed a DC 12 Wisdom saving throw or be forced to use all it's available movement to get as close to the Blood Vine as possible. An affected creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of its turn, ending the effect on a success.

False Appearance. While it remains motionless, the Blood Vine is indistinguishable from an ordinary vine.

Actions

Thorny Whip. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 5 (1d4 + 3) piercing damage, plus 6 (1d6 + 3) poison damage. On a successful hit the target must make a DC 13 Constitution save or become paralyzed until the end of the Blood Vine's next turn. Any incapacitated creature is immediately pulled into the Blood Vine's space.

Constrict. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 0 ft., 1 incapacitated target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) piercing damage, plus 7 (1d8 + 3) poison damage.

Description

Blood Vine is a thin dark brown vine with small hollow thorns, and triangular dark red leaves. It appears as a creeping vine, or a short shrub depending on growing conditions. It grows at sites of intense bloodshed, and requires blood to sustain itself.

Once the initial source of blood (e.g. a corpse or blood soaked battlefield) is exhausted, Blood Vine attracts living creatures to feed on. It does so by producing a sweet smelling nectar, and then ensnaring its victims in its poisonous thorns. An infestation of Blood Vine can last centuries by sustaining itself in this way.
