Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 15 (2d10 + 5) piercing damage. On a successful hit, the creature must make a DC16 saving throw or be restrained. While a creature is restrained in this way, the blue beast cannot use its bite attack.

Description

Blue beast are generally solitary creatures, traveling only in small packs to provide safety when finding a new home. Once the beasts settle, they spread out, each finding its own area to claim. Typically, a blue beast or pack of blue beasts will claim an area around a town or settlement, due to its affinity for sweet treats that can't be found in the wild. While a blue beast will eat meat and other foods, its favored treat is baked goods, particularly cookies. If there are not enough settlements in the blue beasts' chosen area, they can sometimes be seen sharing towns, making matters even worse for the inhabitants.

Over years, the blue beasts have learned that terrorizing settlements and towns is the fastest way to acquired these treats and often cause great distress unless offerings are made. They have been known to devour small children, destroy crops and livestock, and prevent traders from entering an area unless town folk begin bringing cookies as an offerring. Unfortunately, the blue beast's appetite only grows larger and many towns can't keep the offerings to a satisfactory rate.

The blue beast's thick hide and shaggy fur provide an odd protection against magical spells and make it difficult to pierce with weapons. Coupled with its size, formidable claws, and omnivorous nature, it is a formidable foe should one choose your town as its target. While a solitary creature may not pose a risk, harming it in a way that makes it feel threatened could cause it to let out a sonorous deep bellow, summoning those of its pack nearby to descend upon the town for a regrouped attack. Most towns find it best to simply build more bakeries, switch their primary crop to grain, and begin making cookies immediately.

"Here he comes, the great blue beast,
Be sure to give him a sweet treat,
For if you don't, he'll rend and tear
And leave your pieces everywhere!

Then oh how your mother cries
As towns bakery quickly tries
To bake his cookies every faster
For the scary cookies monster!"
- A children's rhyme found in the remains of a town plagued by three blue beasts
