Eel Telepathy. The anguillian can magically command any eel or lamprey within 120 feet of it, using a limited telepathy.
Limited Amphibiousness. The anguillian can breathe air and water, but it needs to be submerged in water at least once every 4 hours to avoid suffocating.
Sunlight Sensitivity. While in sunlight, the anguillian has disadvantage on attack rolls, as well as on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.
Multiattack. The anguillian makes two melee attacks with either its claws or its spear.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 4 (1d4 + 2) [damage type] damage, and the target is grappled (escape DC 12). The Anguillian has two claws, each of which can grapple only one target.
Spear. Melee or Ranged Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft. or range 20/60 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d6 + 2) piercing damage, or 6 (1d8 + 2) piercing damage if used with two hands to make a melee attack.
Blood Drain. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 7 (2d4 + 2) piercing damage, and the anguillian attaches to the target. At the start of each of the anguillian's turns, the target loses 7 (2d4 + 2) hit points due to blood loss.
The anguillian can detach itself by spending 5 feet of its movement. It does so after it drains 21 hit points of blood from the target or the target dies. A creature, including the target, can use its action to attempt to detach the anguillian with a DC 12 Strength check.
Description
Anguillians are aquatic hunters that inhabit the deep abysses of cold seas and the Elemental Plane of Water. Their favorite prey are whales and giant squid, which they hunt down in large parties. They are scavengers as well when need be, willing to eat any kind of flesh—even that of their own dead. They can’t tolerate bright light and dare the surface only on moonless nights to raid island shores or passing ships. During such brief sojourns out of the water, they wield crude spears of bone and coral in their pincers. They practice significant caution when fighting on land, careful to avoid any flames that could burn their sensitive, cold-adapted skin. An adult anguillian is about 6 feet long and weighs 180 pounds. Anguillians speak a dialect of Sahuagin. More intelligent individuals also speak Aquan and languages of other undersea races.
