Traits

Distress Spores. When the Investor takes damage, all other Investors within 240 feet of it can sense its pain.

Evasion. If the Investor is subjected to an effect that allows it to make a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, it instead takes no damage if it succeeds on the saving throw, and only half damage if it fails.

Actions

Multiattack. The Investor makes three beak attacks.

Beak. Melee or Ranged Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft. or range 20/60 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d4 + 6) piercing damage.

Spore Investment. If the Investor moves at least 30 feet it can release a noxious cloud of spores behind it in a 30 foot line that is 5 feet wide. The cloud spreads around corners, and its area is heavily obscured. It lasts for 1 minute or until a wind of moderate or greater speed (at least 10 miles per hour) disperses it. If the target is a humanoid and enters the cloud, it must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw or be infected with a disease—death spore.

A humanoid host receives no immediate ill effects from the death spore while living other than splotches on their tongue (DC 18 Medicine check). The host is also granted immunity to Necromancy spells (including Revivify), and Death Ward cannot be cast on this creature. If the host dies while infected by the death spore, the target rises in one round as a new Investor with no memory of its former life. The new Investor will then seek out the closest Investor commune. (DM determines method of reversing transformation)
