Unless surprised, a creature can avert its eyes to avoid the saving throw at the start of its turn. If the creature does so, it has disadvantage on attack rolls against the Author until the start of its next turn. If the creature looks at the Author in the meantime, it must immediately make the saving throw.

Sadistic Revelry. Each creature within 60 feet of Author that is his ally or is charmed by him must use its reaction to move up to half its speed toward the creature closest to it that it can see, provided it isn't already within 5 feet of that creature. It then must make one melee attack against that creature if it is able to do so.

Revitalize (Costs 2 Actions). Author can use this option only if it is reattach its part. It regains 52 (5d20) hit points.

Lair and Lair Actions

Lair Actions

On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), Author can take a lair action to cause one of the following magical effects; he can't use the same effect two rounds in a row:

  • Author seals one doorway or other entryway within the lair. The opening must be unoccupied. It is filled with solid stone for 1 minute or until Author creates this effect again.
  • Author chooses a room within the lair that is no larger in any dimension than 100 feet. Until the next initiative count 20, gravity is reversed within that room. Any creatures or objects in the room when this happens fall in the direction of the new pull of gravity, unless they have some means of remaining aloft. Author can ignore the gravity reversal if he's in the room, although he likes to use this action to land on a ceiling to attack targets flying near it.
  • Author casts mirage arcane, affecting a room within the lair that is no larger in any dimension than 100 feet. The effect ends on the next initiative count 20.

Regional Effects

The region containing a Author's lair is warped by the Author's magic, which creates one or more of the following effects.

Once per day, Author can alter the weather in a 6-mile radius centered on its lair. Author doesn't need to be outdoors; otherwise the effect is identical to the control weather spell.
Within 1 mile of the lair, winds buoy non-evil creatures that fall due to no act of the Author's or its allies. Such creatures descend at a rate of 60 feet per round and take no falling damage.
Given days or longer to work, Author can make clouds and fog within its lair as solid as stone, forming structures and other objects as it wishes.
If the Author dies, changed weather reverts to normal, as described in the spell, and the other effects fade in 1d10 days.
