Traits

Grandmother of the Sister Court. Any night hag within 30ft of Ancient Nancy Webmother gains the shared spellcasting trait of the night hag (coven variant).

A Thousand Offspring. If in her lair, when Webmother is reduced to 0 hit points, instead of dying, she splinters into a thousand spiders and reconstitutes in another location in her lair 24 hours later. This creates 100 copies of the swarm of insects (spiders). For each killed, Webmother's max HP drops by 2 (1d4) points.

Widower's Walk. Webmother can walk along walls and ceilings.

Innate Spellcasting. The hag's innate spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 20, +12 to hit with spell attacks). She can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:

At will: detect magic, magic missile

2/day each: plane shift (self only), ray of enfeeblement, sleep

Magic Resistance. The hag has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Sister Spellcasting. Ancient Nancy Webmother is a 18th-level spellcaster. Intelligence is her spellcasting ability (Spell save DC 20, +12 to hit)

1st level (4 slots): identify, ray of sickness

2nd level (3 slots): hold person, locate object

3rd level (3 slots): bestow curse, counterspell, lightning bolt

4th level (3 slots): phantasmal killer, polymorph, shadow of moil

5th level (3 slots): contact other plane, scrying, contagion

6th level (1 slot): eyebite, circle of death

7th level (1 slot): temple of the gods

8th level (1 slot): feeblemind

9th level (1 slot): psychic scream

Actions

Multiattack. Webmother makes two attacks, one with her claws and one with her bite.

Claws.(Hag Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 18 (3d8 + 4) slashing damage.

Nightmare Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 18 (3d8+4) piercing damage. Target must make a DC 20 Intelligence saving throw. On a failed save, the target takes 28 (6d6) psychic damage and Webmother embeds one of her teeth into her victim. They see illusionary copies of her and have disadvantage while attacking her. This effect lasts until a successful DC 14 Medicine check to remove the tooth.

Change Shape. The hag magically polymorphs into a Small or Medium female humanoid, or back into her true form. Her statistics are the same in each form. Any equipment she is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. She reverts to her true form if she dies.

Etherealness. The hag magically enters the Ethereal Plane from the Material Plane, or vice versa. To do so, the hag must have a heartstone in her possession.

Nightmare Haunting (1/Day). While on the Ethereal Plane, the hag magically touches a sleeping humanoid on the Material Plane. A protection from evil and good spell cast on the target prevents this contact, as does a magic circle. As long as the contact persists, the target has dreadful visions. If these visions last for at least 1 hour, the target gains no benefit from its rest, and its hit point maximum is reduced by 5 (1d10). If this effect reduces the target's hit point maximum to 0, the target dies, and if the target was evil, its soul is trapped in the hag's soul bag. The reduction to the target's hit point maximum lasts until removed by the greater restoration spell or similar magic.

Legendary Actions

Ancient Nancy Webmother can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. She regains spent legendary actions at the start of her turn.

Claw Attack. Webmother makes a claw attack.

Draining Spindle. A creature in contact with Webmother's web takes 4d6 neurotic damage and Webmother heals half that amount.

Ethereal Kidnapping (2 Actions). Webmother targets one creature in contact with her web to make a DC 20 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, that creature is trapped in the Ethereal Plane until the end of Webmother's next turn or if the web is burned or destroyed.

Description

In their hunt for the Elements of the Songweave, Webmother is the great inquisitor of the Sister Court's prey. Once a night hag, Webmother's power has grown--her and her coven now rivaling the Raven Queen for the memories of the dead. She tends to live exclusively on the Ethereal Plane, the unseen hand of the Court, scouring the dead for any hint of the Songweave.

When on a more tangible plane, Webmother disguises herself as a hobbled old woman with a scattered memory. Her true form is a towering horror. She stands on the elongated toenails of her eight legs. Her abdomen swells as insects crawl beneath her skin, some crawling out fissures in her skin. Her spindly arms are draped in wiry hairs that hang to the floor. Razor sharp teeth line her mouth, at the top of a 5 foot long wrinkled neck that constantly sways and coils to strike.

Lair and Lair Actions

Webs protrude into every crack and fissure, like weeds in cobblestone. Eventually, the webs break apart the surrounding until the web is all that lashes and holds the space together. Castles are held together by webs; caves look ready to collapse but for the web tying the rocks together. By this, Webmother is able to control and reshape her liar, weaponize her very home by loosing and binding those trapped in her web.

On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), Webmother takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects; she can’t use the same effect two rounds in a row:

  • Webmother drops an object held in her web. Any creature below (depending on the object's size) must succeed on a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw or take 18 (5d6) bludgeoning damage and be knocked prone and be [Tooltip Not Found] by the webbing. A creature can take an action to make a DC 16 Strength check to stand up.
  • The webs attempt to cocoon a target within 30ft of the webbing. That target must succeed on a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw or be pulled 30ft into the air and surrounded by webbing. A creature in this cocoon is restrained, blinded, and deafened. If left in the cocoon for 1 minute, they are unconscious. If left inside the cocoon for 24 hours, the creature is killed and turned into a husk, to be animated by Webmother using the mummy stat block.  The web is vulnerable to fire and has an 15 AC and 30 hit points.
  • Webmother can target a 30ft cube she can see; every creature within that space must succeed on a DC 16 Strength saving throw or be grappled (escape DC 16). That area also becomes difficult terrain.
