Posted Jun 25, 2018What is the difference between the warhorse where it comes to carrying capacity? Perhaps a home brew rule is in order.

Posted Nov 26, 2019A riding horse has a STR of 16, but both the draft horse and riding horse have a STR of 18. Between the draft and warhorses, there is no difference in carrying capacities. That said, warhorses are faster and have higher AC. (Thematically, warhorses are trained not to be spooked easily, and willing to go into battle.)

Posted Aug 7, 2020The average weight of a domesticated horse is about 1000 pounds (or 454 kilograms). Picking one up would warrant some way to double a character's lifting capacity, as a standard 20 Strength fighter can only lift up to 600 pounds without any gear.
This is likely due to purposefully breeding horses for select tasks, in this case pulling heavy objects like carriages.
A wild horse will likely be much lighter, yet also won't be as strong. A player character centaur weighs some number over 600 pounds, so we can safely assume a wild horse weighs similarly.

Posted Aug 10, 2023I think a warhorse's barding should be counted towards that carrying capacity.

Posted Feb 9, 2024Is 2 intelligence not quite low for a mammal species? Horses can understand commands, show affection, demand food, etc. intelligence at 2 I’d have thought would be something like an insect or a fish that operates entirely on instinct. Just thinking from a “Speak with Animals” point of view, intelligence of 2 would barely be aware of its own thoughts and wants.

Posted Jun 25, 2024It has 11 Wisdom, so we could start a philosphical debate about the differences between INT and WIS. As it cant actually learn or understand spoken languages, cannot read or do math, it definitely is less "inteligent" than a 6 year old child. But I also think it should have 3 or 4 INT.
