UPDATE 8 Nov: We know it has been a long time since we posted here but, the Artificers have been very busy, deep inside the Character Sheet Machine. Without further ado we would like to announce; weight changes when unequipping a container and magical containers that have fixed weights. So now you can load down your Cart full of Fine Clothes, drop that heavy Backpack right before a battle and fill up your Bags of Holding.
UPDATE 6 Aug 00:02GMT: We have recovered all customizations created prior to the containers deployment @15:00 GMT today. Any changes made to those items after the deployment have been reverted to their original status. Any alterations made after the deployment are currently unavailable. We will be working on getting those few back over the next couple of days. Stay tuned and thank you again for your patience.
UPDATE 5 Aug 23:01GMT: We know there is an issue with the customization of items, We are currently working on recovering those customizations. We recommend NOT attempting to correct these issues on your end by deleting and rewriting. Give us a moment to recover your old data. Thank you for your patience.
Greetings Adventurers!
We are so happy to announce that the containers on your character’s inventory now actually HOLD things. You can now add things to your backpack and collapse the list. You can click on the container name to see it's contents and add or remove things. When has organization ever been so fun? So as you all log in to your character for the first time today you will see this functionality.
Please remember this is the first step for us to build out the Shared Inventory for your party and we will eventually be adding currency and weight to each or these containers, meaning you can finally carry an overloaded rucksack and drop it right before combat or have a Bag of Holding’s contents not destroy your weight limit. Oh! And one more thing containers cannot go into containers.
If you have feedback, we want to hear it! The best way to give it to us is through our Inventory Management/Sharing Portal.
I understand where you're coming from, but really there is a huge lack of transparency in terms of what is being worked on or not. With the pandemic and all and major staff changes, I understand things are going to slow down.
Only thing is, this keeps happening on DNDB. A new release of a feature, tons of bugs, some get fixed, the others stay for a good 1-2 years. I would expect better work for literally the forefront of DND 5e now. This is the most popular its ever been. The progress on anything being made is so painstakingly slow I can't help but feel underwhelmed at DNDB as a service.
This is with me saying that I am a master tier, purchased majority of content, and a full-supporter of dndb. Just sad times man.
Having an option for not carried for avoiding encumbrance.
HELL YES
At one point I was able to create containers and it's not allowing me to make my own backpacks and stuff. Can somebody help me?
The easiest way I have found is to use an existing container type (like a backpack or saddlebags) and just rename it.
This seems not to be working for me lol
Go to Inventory Management and add a Backpack.
Now click the Backpack in your inventory list. This should open the item description window.
Click customize, then edit the name. Close the customization pane. Your changes will appear in your inventory and in the header tabs.
Does that work?
I made an item similar to a bag of Holding and it even let me choose container or not. But now that options is gone. :/
I have a great plan that involves a helicopter
The new updates to this functionality are fantastic. Here's what I’d like to see in the future:
1.) The ability to have Locations to receive inventory. These would not have any weight, but could be named things like "Camp," "Guildhouse," "Cache," or "Stash." You get the idea. They would have no functional capacity limit. Best of all they could be shared by designated people in the party (selected from a drop-down or something).
2.) The ability to pass items from one person in the party to another — including what container it goes straight to.
3.) The ability to add mundane items and "Trade Goods" to inventory that can be moved around to containers. These should have weights, values, and descriptions.
4.) Oh—and the ability to put containers inside containers. I should be able to put pouches, small bags, and box, etc, into a backpack, bag of holding, saddlebag, etc.
That would all be super-cool. I know you say this is Phase 1, so I hope some of these things will make the cut in upcoming phases!
If you could later on add an button on the side to be able to select multiple items at once and either move them all to one place or delete them all at once.
Honestly I just assume that the option to creat a container has been removed. It was pretty amazing to be able to create containers on this site and now that is gone. Oh well. Also putting containers in containers would just make sense.
