UPDATE 8 Nov: We know it has been a long time since we posted here but, the Artificers have been very busy, deep inside the Character Sheet Machine. Without further ado we would like to announce; weight changes when unequipping a container and magical containers that have fixed weights. So now you can load down your Cart full of Fine Clothes, drop that heavy Backpack right before a battle and fill up your Bags of Holding.
UPDATE 6 Aug 00:02GMT: We have recovered all customizations created prior to the containers deployment @15:00 GMT today. Any changes made to those items after the deployment have been reverted to their original status. Any alterations made after the deployment are currently unavailable. We will be working on getting those few back over the next couple of days. Stay tuned and thank you again for your patience.
UPDATE 5 Aug 23:01GMT: We know there is an issue with the customization of items, We are currently working on recovering those customizations. We recommend NOT attempting to correct these issues on your end by deleting and rewriting. Give us a moment to recover your old data. Thank you for your patience.
Greetings Adventurers!
We are so happy to announce that the containers on your character’s inventory now actually HOLD things. You can now add things to your backpack and collapse the list. You can click on the container name to see it's contents and add or remove things. When has organization ever been so fun? So as you all log in to your character for the first time today you will see this functionality.
Please remember this is the first step for us to build out the Shared Inventory for your party and we will eventually be adding currency and weight to each or these containers, meaning you can finally carry an overloaded rucksack and drop it right before combat or have a Bag of Holding’s contents not destroy your weight limit. Oh! And one more thing containers cannot go into containers.
If you have feedback, we want to hear it! The best way to give it to us is through our Inventory Management/Sharing Portal.
So just curious, but how can this new functionality be applied to Homebrew container items?
What’s the point of making a component pouch a container when there are no components to put in it? Could we please have components added to the official item list? Please; I want to track my diamonds and bat guano!
Would love to see a store as a container.
Where a DM can create a container on the campaign page and fill it with anything that has a price, where any player can then buy whatever is in there and put the item in their inventory and their money gets deducted.
For anyone else curious in giving feedback through the Inventory Management/Sharing Portal; the link in the article is wrong. Here are the links:
Soon, I'm sure we'll be able to add custom items like components. But official components and trinkets in the Manage Inventory section would be nice.
Heck, even just an item named “Spell Component” and another named “Trinket” and we had to enter which is what in the notes field would be workable for the time being. Although, most of the components that would go in a pouch are irrelevant once one has said pouch. Who needs the feather when there’s no need to track it, but the Pearl can plop right in there already.
Although, a “Miscellaneous Item” would sure go a long way to covering all of those Custom Items.
Is it possible to move the "Equipment" (not in container) section to the top or the bottom of the list in the "All" view? It's very confusing to have it between, for example, backpack and quiver.
You can edit the names of the containers and they rearrange in alphabetical order. I use emojis, so for example, “🎒 Backpack” is alphabetically after “Quiver.” However, you could also use exclamation points “!” or periods “.” at the beginning to move them higher in order, or even just a blank space, or an upside down exclamation “¡” to drop something lower. “I would show you on my character sheet, but it got reset on me and I haven’t had the fortitude to fix it againagainagain. (It took a couple hours each the last two times but they “ recovered” stuff and now it’s all jacked up.)
I hear you, but on the other hand having the section of "not in any containers" pinned on the top or bottom would be more desirable than having a hacky workaround to do it while adding characters to the sheet I don't want to see (and which might be the reason why your sheet got reset on you?)
No, emojis work fine on the sheets, always have. It got reset because of this:
I was offering a way to do it because even if they take your suggestion it’ll likely be months (or longer) before it gets implemented. You don’t wanna use it, no skin off my nose. I still tried to help you.
This!
Magnificent first release on container management. Keep the updates dropping :o)
I've seen it mentionned before, but not answered : field tests show that Portable hole and bag of holding do not "negate" the contents weight. Is this normal? or did I miss something?
I'm loving it so far! And I'm excited for things to come.
They say in the paragraph below the screenshot that that's something that will be addressed in a later update.
Fantastic new feature! Once you guys get the bag of holding sorted you should also look into implementing a percentage based weight reduction for backpacks as well, since realistically carrying 50lbs in a backpack is drastically different than 50lb in your hands.
Sorry, but my characters' items are still missing all their notes and custom names. I have cleared my cache and had my partner check the sheets on a different PC. I did not make any changes after the update. Appreciate y'all working on this.
I'm sorry to those who are upset about losing half a day's organization, but please compare half a day of lost internet doots vs. half a decade of lost campaign memories.
ETA: Wish I could cast Bless on the devs, cause it's all back <3 So, so appreciative of how fast that happened. A thousand thank yous!
I made a homebrew container for my party, is there a walk through on how to make it act as a container with the new update? I am not able to put anything into it as right now.
I appreciate the intent, but that is not a solution, just an awkward workaround.
And I am aware it will not be done fast - they haven't been able to create a light theme for the mobile app since it came out.
Considering that it lists everything alphabetically, just like these, I’m pretty sure they’re not gonna ever change it. So it’ll either be this “awkward workaround” or you’re gonna have to petition the universe to change the alphabet. But you do you. Good luck in yer struggles chummer.
The equipment section is for items that are not in a container. You know, like in your windows explorer the files that are not in a subfolder, and they are listed after the folders. It's not petition the universe to change the alphabet, it's simply a request to pin the special section that represents items that are NOT in any containers to the top or bottom. I am sure the universe isn't against that.
(Not to mention the universe doesn't give a monkey skull about the alphabet, since that's a human invention...)
