I would be significantly less disappointed if the email didn't promise free stuff as well as deals on useless items.
Thx for all the links to free stuf, as i am bit new here i was able to claim all the given links.
TY !!!
At least the calender gave me the comment section, for the calender itself is ****!
GUYS, you won't beliveve this, but today's gift is HUGE! Noone expected this, but it is A DISCOUNT! This is the amazing content I have come to expect from Wizards of the Coast, this is massive! I know that the last NINE DAYS of straight discounts might have dissuaded some, but THIS is some real content baby! Thank you so much to D&D beyond fror granting us this gift - nay, this BOON - of ANOTHER ******* DISCOUNT. You make millions but the bare minimum is still too much?
Another thing that I haven't seen anyone here complain about by the way, this is an Advent calendar. While I myself am not religious, it feels extra icky to use this religious concept and use it to sell more things that we did not ask for. You made a symbol of generosity and gift GIVING and turned it into a new way to GET more money. This is so bad on SO many levels. I hereby cancel my D&D Beyond subscription.
Hey, maybe consider useful things like free skins for dice, character sheets, or even discount vouchers for, oh I don't know, your own digital and physical products that can be redeemed worldwide? This is absolutely useless for anyone not in the US, and its clear you aren't thinking about what we might actually want.
Just reposting every thing i could find in the chat, free claimables

I feel like they had more free stuff in the past, but most of that free stuff, either I already had it, or it was kinda lame. This stuff is better quality and pretty good discounts. I also like that they're throwing some spotlight on small businesses. But most of this stuff I'm not interested in. I got the throw blanket for my son for Christmas because he loves dragons, but I haven't found anything else that I like that I would still spend that much on even after the discount.
dnd beyond fix yourself!!
Some of them were actually gifts...
Ok, wild idea to avoid more disappointment: we can share some homebrew to each other!
I'll start!
Today you can add my spelljammer-inspired race to your games, the Weilkin!

This folks are part orca and part squid, but don't be fooled by their appearances: they can be very elegant diplomats.
Lol this is absolute crap. Nor surprising but still somehow disappointing, especially considering the fact that all the actual free stuff is claimable stuff I already own because they keep reusing it.
Why made an advent calendar when you have nothing to put into it? Save yourself the work and us the disappointment.
Last year (or maybe the year before) they had some fun craft printable things I did with my kids and we had a blast. This year it looks like franchising and capitalist greed win the day. Which I suppose is very on brand for the direction WotC/Hasbro is going. Merry Consumer-mas!
Wow, discounts! At least it isn't printable coloring books.
As a religious person, the modern "Advent calendar" phenomenon has little to do with religion.
1. It's not an Advent calendar, it's a December/Christmas calendar. Advent can start as early as 27 November, and can be anywhere from 22-28 days long (this year, Advent is as short as it can be, 22 days, 3-25 December). Moderen Advent calendars usually start on 1 December because it's easier.
2. Advent calendars are almost entirely secular now. Like everything else related to Christmas, it was adopted by the wider culture, and then ruthlessly pillaged for consumerism. Some Advent calendars still use religious imagery, but the vast majority you'll see don't. Secular Christmas is all about maximizing profit, and Advent calendars are sold for that purpose.
All of this is to say that, believe me, using an Advent calendar to offer discounts and make money isn't going to offend anyone worth listening to on religious grounds.
More actual gifts like dice and frames instead of discounts. Hoping they'll start to add a few.
Sounds rough buddy…
So far we haven't seen anything actually good. All we've had are Discounts for things which are basically US exclusive and ONE free skin for an AFK clicker game
They are just trying to make you buy their products
Probably only going to be discounts and things you can purchase because we know after the ogl backlash and the pinkertons situation costing wizards loads of money they're not going to do anything that doesn't get them $ in some way
So just out of interest… are any of these gifts actually going to relate to dnd beyond content or is it all just gonna be pointless 3rd party tack and real world products.
like gang, I subscribe to dnd beyond because I want virtual dnd beyond content… not so I can get nonsense advertised to me from other providers and real world products, like I don’t mind some of it but we’re 10 days in and you’re still yet to offer anything even vaguely relevant to a dnd beyond customer.
Mhmmm who doesnt like overpriced spicy beholder brew coffee, makes my mouth water just thinking about how much I want it.
