FAQs
Are the digital expansions exclusive to the Ultimate and Digital Bundles, or can I buy them separately?
Each digital expansion will be available on the D&D Beyond marketplace on the release dates listed above. The Ultimate Bundle saves you money if you're looking to experience the most expansive take on the Forgotten Realms in Dungeons & Dragons history.
What is Astarion’s Book of Hungers?
Astarion’s Book of Hungers is a digital expansion that sinks its teeth into vampire-themed storytelling. Dungeon Masters and players alike will find new character options—including the Dhampir species, 18 feats, and three vampiric backgrounds—perfect for adding gothic flair to any campaign.
The book also offers powerful DM tools: new monster stat blocks for devil-worshipping vampires, bite-sized adventures where players team up with Astarion, and a fully detailed map and backstory for Astarion’s favorite tavern from before the events of Baldur's Gate 3.
Build a bloody new campaign or step into Astarion’s shadowy past with this digital expansion that delivers everything you need to craft a tale of hunger, darkness, and dastardly charm!
What is Netheril’s Fall?
Netheril’s Fall is a digital expansion that lets adventurers journey back in time to one of the Forgotten Realms’ most storied empires. This expansion includes the tools you need to play Dungeons & Dragons adventures set in ancient Netheril, a long-fallen empire in the Forgotten Realms.
Step through time-traveling gates to explore the arcane wonders of High and Low Netheril—complete with city maps, gazetteers, and new magic items that were previously lost to history. Dive into adventures set during iconic Netherese events, and face terrifying new monsters, including several new phaerimm.
Whether you’re a time-traveling hero or a lore-seeker uncovering forgotten power, Netheril’s Fall offers a rich and unforgettable glimpse into a legendary past.
What is the third digital expansion?
More information on this digital expansion will be revealed soon!
Is the Dallabad Oasis Animated Map exclusively a pre-order bonus, or can I buy it separately?
This perk is only available as a pre-order bonus.
How will I be able to use the Baldur's Gate 3 Map Pack?
These maps are only available on D&D Beyond's Maps VTT, which can be used for free (no subscription required) with your D&D Beyond account after September 16.
Where can I find the Digital Bundle?
It’s currently only visible via the Ultimate Bundle page. We’re working on making it easier to find in the Marketplace.

I'd be interested in reading more on that if you have a link.
Here we go again. Those who spend a lot more money to get just a physical copy of these books gets sideswiped with being left out with expansions, Nethril Fall and Astarion's book of hunger, plus a third later on. And what about a physical Atlas for us physical copy people. I don't want a digital copy of a book. I want the book. Priorities people! Once again only physical copy people pay more and get less! I don't want digital dice or VTT maps because my games are at home physically there! So come on Dungeons and Dragons! When the electricity goes out or my phone dies I have no worries. So show love to your physical book buyers because we made you!!!
the page for the ultimate bundle stated 8 species, outside of Dhamphire what can we expect?
While I agree with you, in general (I would love a physical map), the digital extras should be available for purchase separately. If you are planning to purchase the 3 digital expansions, and the other two in physical format, that will be $154.95 USD at MSRP. That is $5 USD less than the ultimate bundle. I assume that the digital pre-order bonus is included regardless of whether or not you pre-order the digital version or not, but I am not sure.
I'm probably in the minority here, but I'm moderately uncomfortable with the idea of game content being exclusively locked behind D&D Beyond's "You don't own this" Licensing Agreement. I'd buy pysicial versions of these books in a second, if they were offered. Honestly, if they were offered in physical format, I'd probably buy physical copies and the D&D the Beyond versions, because I enjoy the functionality that DDB provides. But the idea that customers can only get this content digitally through this website feels bad.
I love this game, and I have defended WotC through much of the worst of their BS because I understand the friction between creatives and leadership in publicly traded companies. But I would have been remiss if I didn't speak my piece about this.
I get that.
But there are two perspectives to any situation.
Could be a "Cash Grab" or as you are concerned, a product that you are worried you might lose access to sometime down the road.
But it also can be seen as a way for them to offer additional content that maybe they don't have the data to support would warrant a physical printing.
Maybe the alternative isn't "physical customers get hosed". Maybe the alternative is "this wouldn't exist at all otherwise"
There is a third perspective, if this was offered via Dungeon Masters Guild, there would be a chance for some of the digital only titles to be available for print on demand. However, DMs Guild is associated with Roll 20, a competitor for the Maps and Sigil VTTs and WotC would rather lock them and the customers out of their digital content. Notice that all of the maps are not downloadable, so they are Maps VTT or nothing (I don't think they integrate into Sigil).
Regarding digital and physical content, other publishers have found different solutions. Games Workshop is often accused of being greedy and they include a code in each Codex/Rule Book to unlock the content in their app.
It's not either or. It's not two perspectives. That is a fallacy of logic. There are many perspectives. Many possible paths they could have taken. They took the path that, for some of the digital content (ie, the maps), has zero legitimate options in person gamers.
By my estimation, if you have go with one of the digital options, you will have bonuses that cannot be used in person without a projector or sufficiently large screen.
Pre-Order Bonus Only: The Dallabad Oasis Animated Map for D&D Beyond Maps* I believe you won't be able to download and print a (static) copy of this.
There's no telling what will be available in Netheril's Fall or the hush hush third expansion.
At some point, Beadle and Grimms may offer a legendary edition all the content with lush, physical copies for everything, including the Atlas, for the low, low price of 3 kidneys.
When will it be available on EU store?
(BTW, Eu store could be better...)
