2026 Roadmap: A Year of Adventure

Ravenloft: The Horrors Within

In Spring, the Mists roll in as we kick off the Season of Horror—which crescendos with our next upcoming product, Ravenloft: The Horrors Within. This book returns you to some of D&D’s most iconic and chilling nightmares, the Domains of Dread.
We can’t wait for you to get your hands on it and unleash dark legends at your table.
We'll be sharing more about this new book soon, but here are the key dates to mark now:
- Pre-order: April 13
- Master Tier: June 2
- Hero Tier: June 9
- Wide Release: June 16
Season of Magic: Arcana Unleashed & More

After the last scream of the Season of Horror echoes out into the void, we turn the page to the Season of Magic—a celebration of spellcraft, wonder, and ceaseless drive for power.
To kick off the magic, you’ll be able to add new tools to your table in August with D&D Reference Cards, built to keep key information close at hand when the action heats up.
Then, arriving as a source of inspiration for all lovers of magic and the arcane, Arcana Unleashed and the adventure book Arcana Unleashed: Deadfall will debut in September.
D&D Beyond: New Ways to Get Playing Faster

As shared recently in our Development Roadmap, D&D Beyond is leveling up with updates that reduce friction and help groups jump into the fun. From smoother onboarding for players to better ways to find events—and more improvements aimed at helping DMs prep with confidence—2026 will help you play your way online and at the table.
If you'd like to dive into more detail on D&D Beyond's feature releases and stay up-to-date with what's recently come out (like Shared Dice in the Maps VTT), keep an eye on our constantly evolving Roadmap Hub.
Partnered Content on D&D Beyond

In 2026, partnered content continues to bring fresh voices, bold settings, and table-ready delights to D&D Beyond, expanding your library with new ways to play, explore, and surprise your group.
You can read more about the content that is arriving on D&D Beyond in the first half of 2026 in our Partnered Content Roadmap updates:

Posted Mar 3, 2026For the record, those EN World users I'm referring to theorized that a Dark Sun book would follow the updated Tome of Magic. And for those who are dismissing the chances of a Dark Sun book, there is still a third season after the Season of Horrors and the Season of Magic, and as their 2026 Roadmap shows, that season's book has yet to be announced. I don't know about you, but I think Season of Champions sounds kind of fitting for an apocalyptic setting like Dark Sun.

Posted Mar 3, 2026My money is on the unannounced Winter book being a Dark Sun sourcebook. If they had done one subclass in on Unearthed Arcana, ehh probably not a whole book. But they’ve done 3, fine-tuning a whole new class, a set of psionic origin feats, and a bunch of subclasses that overtly reference the setting (Defiler/Sorcerer King, etc.)
Plus, look at the “seasons” they’ve introduced. Season of Horror for Ravenloft, Season of Magic for Arcana Unleashed… Season of Champions for Dark Sun gladiators?

Posted Mar 3, 2026I'm thinking the winter release is likely to be the rumored Dark Sun book, and if so it's likely in there

Posted Mar 3, 2026I’m willing to bet that was the original plan, but they probably hit some behind the scenes speed bumps in the other books and had to push up the release of the Ravenloft book

Posted Mar 3, 2026My question would be more that since in the dev's log say they are able to put the sub-classes from the other partner content and mechanics to the 5.5e version of the classes, would we also be able to maybe have the module, like the weapon masteries of the martial classes from 5.5e, to be selected in PC creation on the extended rules for the 5e version of the classes and the sub-classes from the partner books, like the grim hollow transform and even from the new 3rd party books to come, to also be backwards compatible with the 5e version of the classes?
Cause it would be cool to have the option to pick and choose the things we could put on the PC sheets, like in Tasha's book, to pick and choose how and what skills we wants our PCs and NPCs to have, since the DM would be the one to put the ground rules on their Tabale on what is and not allowed.

Posted Mar 3, 2026Judging from the order of UA we got - horror themed, arcana themed, then dark sun themed - I would assume that it will be among the first official books released in 2027.

Posted Mar 3, 2026I am disappointed in the recycling of 5e content, like Ravenloft, when there’s so much of Faerun, let alone the rest of Torin, left to open up for 5e. This regurgitating things already in 5e shows a lack of imagination. Where’s the Calimemnon Crystal, east coast, Chuhlt, adventures. and then there are the other planes
you have so much more in you 50 years of treasure you could be sharing without repeating things already out.
why not get creative, stretch your imagination, get your party together and head to Wild places you haven’t been to in such a long time.
We will all lean into something old made new.

Posted Mar 3, 2026Nice! I really hope Arcana Unleashed is a proper Adventure, and not just more of the same old Anthology bs that they've been releasing for a bit now. I don't want something I can just plug into whatever I'm running. I want some new adventures... and it would be cool if WotC could put out another great adventure instead of relying on partners like Kobold and Avantris. I enjoy the books I have. Just, there's room for... not improvement, just room for more I think.

Posted Mar 3, 2026One of my groups is largely DM's that just take turns alternating adventures, and one of my lot has been pushing for us to do Daggerheart or ToV. We're just running out of steam on D&D. We're in the middle of an adventure now, and then I have one that I want to run, but after that it is their turn, and I think we're going to be switching over to one of those two, unless we can be swayed back. Mind, thats likely going to be next Summer by this point

Posted Mar 3, 2026Thats my concern too. I'm so tired of the anthology stuff. I love running Homebrew, but sometimes a good pre-written campaign hits when you have the right table. And I would love a longer campaign book, even the last proper one they dead in Vecna, was basically a pieced together hodgepodge. I Love that I can turn to some third parties like Avantris, or Kobold, or creators like JVC Perry, for good content. But like... sup, WotC?
