The public beta for digital dice launched yesterday on D&D Beyond, and thousands of fans have already rolled millions of times to see that first "20" land on their screens.
The D&D Beyond team has taken the task seriously of helping people across the world play games and connect with one another during the unprecedented times of this pandemic. Knowing that we can bring even the smallest amount of joy in the midst our global situation provides a real sense of purpose, and we appreciate the reports of happiness brought about by these pixels bouncing across your character sheets more than you know.
Starting today, you will be able to unlock new dice sets for your collection, including the colorful 'Pigment Pack' and a fully-animated 'Mythic Set.' You can check out both in the Marketplace. There will be plenty more where they came from in the days ahead.
We are also acutely aware of recent events that call into stark focus the systemic racial injustice that continues to exist in the world. We understand that messaging from companies often lands hollow without action, and we do not wish to remain silent in the face of this. For the next week (through June 9th), D&D Beyond will donate 50% of all proceeds from digital dice sets to the Black Lives Matter movement.
We stand in solidarity with the Black community against racism, discrimination, and senseless acts of violence.
the largest amount of crimes against any one group is always going to be from that group bcuz groups tend to live together, it is completely irrelevant to bring up intragroup crime rates in a discussion about a authority body murdering people of a minority group.
Moderators, please consider locking this thread.
People who claim that D&D Beyond shouldn't be making "political" statements are themselves using this thread to make political statements.
I would like to thank the D&D Beyond team for doing the right thing.
Do you stand with the rioters?
Yes please, great question!
I agree. No one is politicizing this except the people who choose to see a political stance here. Closing the thread is a good idea, but I could see why they wouldn't want to do that.
Thank you moderators and D&D Beyond staff.
I don't stand with the rioters, but I at least understand why they're doing what they are doing. I sympathize with the people who have been abused by the police for too long, and have had enough.
i do stand with the rioters because it has been shown that people aren't listening to peaceful protests
"Do you stand with the rioters or do you stand with the murderers of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Philando Castile, Tamir Rice, etc etc?" is a false dichotomy. It's in all of our interests to not let our police departments be turned into an apparatus of violence directed at our fellow citizens.
Thanks for clarifying this, Adam. Seeing the cause was the only reason I'd pay more than $2.99 for something like this. I briefly felt I'd been had when I saw half after making the purchase.
our police departments already are an apparatus of violence directed at our fellow citizens
Really well just like the bad cops who murdered George I hope he gets thrown in jail I don’t advocate violence against anyone but blaming a race and/or a profession for a few bad eggs is crazy, so my friend traces his family all the way back to the first slave ships brought over from Africa he mentioned that Africans sold his family into slavery not Europeans so it’s wrong to blame all people with lighter skin and BLM didn’t like his story. He is a great friend and a awesome human being we are the perfect example of multiracial friendship. I don’t like racial shit it’s there to divide us when it would be better for us to be working together I would of thought Dnd of all games would of taught us that.
I don’t mean to disrespect you but in my experience you don’t get equality by exterminating a different set of people and dividing the country you get it by standing together and saying enough is enough. BLM have spewed hate and intolerance not only to people of different shaded skin but also their own shaded skin toned people who say they don’t condone BLM for its extremist views. I won’t support them go watch YouTube and see their hate for yourself.
4 cops dude if you stand there and do nothing while your co worker kills someone your just as guilty no self respecting decent person stands by idly while a man is in distress
You understand that's kind of why they're protesting, right? The 3 other cops are still free. Sure, they got fired, but that isn't near enough of a punishment. They are all guilty, and should be arrested. I'm sure these riots won't end until that happens.
This is an excellent move for a just cause. Things like this make me proud to be a part of the community which the D&D Beyond team has created.
Thank you for speaking out and donating to such an important cause!
Ummmmm???? You guys brought the political debate on to your website. And then you tell people they can't discuss the topic that you brought up?? Wow, was there any thought put into this at all??
I can't support violence no matter what the reason or cause. So no dice for me...
You should maybe pick up a history book sometime...
Wow. You can wait to buy them if you want them, and are adamant on not supporting Black Lives Matter.
