D&D Beyond is excited to announce the release of the all-new, consolidated D&D Beyond App! Gone are the days of two separate apps: we’ve combined the power of the D&D Beyond toolset with new mobile features to make your Dungeons & Dragons 5th-edition games more accessible and more fun. The app is available to download for free on iOS and Android.
The toolset makes it easier to reference D&D content, with features ranging from a guided character creation, dynamic character sheets and spell management, plus the ability to search and bookmark books in your library. The app is the perfect mobile solution for every D&D player — whether you’re a new player, a veteran campaigner, or legendary Dungeon Master.
Play with Advantage
Mobile character creation is easier with the character builder tool walking you through every step of the character creation process. You’ll never have to enter a game without your character sheet again — access your characters online or offline and be ready for skill checks, attack rolls, saving throws, or whatever twists your DM throws at you. Manage your character's health, abilities, spells, and inventory.
Forgot your dice? Roll directly in the app with themed digital dice sets!
Dungeon Masters will enjoy the ability to easily access monster stat blocks and game rules in the D&D Beyond App. Bookmark your favorite monsters or frequently used rules, search spells, and gaze longingly over your backlog of characters you'd love to play (some day, maybe...).
What if I already own the Player App or Reader App?
Adventurers who have the D&D Beyond Player App will simply need to update the app to access the new tools! If you are using the D&D Beyond Reader App, you'll need to migrate over to the new app.
Excellent! Looking forward to it!
Great
Nooooo pls consolidated apps always suck, I’m fact you need more apps, like the encounter combat tool should be its own app.
I’m interested to see how this turns out.
Very excited to take advantage of this change!
Sounds pretty cool! Now I don't have to suffer without my character sheet, I can die in a campaign anywhere and anytime
I desperately hope that they drastically improve the accessibility of the player app. The reader app works wonderfully, and I have used it for the last few years to keep track of all my spells and equipment… But the player app has been absolutely abysmal using VoiceOver on the iPhone. They really need to take accessibility seriously for the visually impaired, because if they haven’t, this will exclude me from the entire game.
I got a question when will the consolidated D&D Beyond app be available to download??
Is this just gonna be a merge of the two existing apps or will the player companion part finally have sorely needed featuers?
The idea of having in-app bookmarks is very exciting. So many tables to refer to, so little time to constantly be scrolling through pages to find them.
will beyond 20 work off the mobile app when this happens for VTT?
Independent apps definitely have advantages (and I can't imagine the UI for this is going to be anywhere close to streamlined at first.)
But it should reduce some redundancies and allow for faster updates, along with other nice features if integrated well, so it will be nice if it DOES turn out like we hope. Guess we'll find out.
Aloha! ;)
What kinds of issues are you having? I'm using both apps on an iPhone X & have been able to access most of the player app features with VoiceOver. I did have an issue with the conditions button disappearing when I applied one (& was told there was an image, so assume no alt text), & the spells list is kind of long to have to scroll through (hopefully they'll add a filter by level like on the website), but I can keep track of spell slots, equip/unequip equipment, roll dice, etc. Another thing that would be nice is a way to quickly jump to actions, bonus actions, etc on the actions page, like a filter or implementing headers (which I could jump to via VoiceOver--I suppose implementing headers on the spells page would allow me to jump as well...). BTW, with a double-tap-&-hold (VO's version of the long-press gesture), I can change dice rolls from regular to with advantage or disadvantage...
Are you having other issues? Also, are you using an earlier iPhone? I've found that when we can give them specific examples, the DDB staff have been very responsive. (I'd meant to share the above issues in the feedback forums, but have been dealing with limited energy due to chronic illness, but your post prompted me to respond...). Please share how they or I can help make things more accessible.
Hope this helps! ;) --SFL
PS, I don't know if this was a VO or iOS issue (& haven't checked lately if it's still works this way), but I had an issue in which selecting the 1st character in the list didn't bring it up. Since I have more than 1, I just changed the sort order & was able to pull it up fine...
BTW, will there be a way to import our existing bookmarks from the reader app into the new combined app?
Awww yeah.
This is awesome, y'all! :D
YAAAAAAAAAAAASSSS!!!
Will the user interface for character sheets be redesigned to allow for editing and managing XP/levels without having to resort to the website interface?
This sounds awesome! Super excited!
Siiiiiick! Been waiting for this integration!
