Homebrew Yuan-ti (Getninia) Race Details

Yuan-Ti optimized for Getninia.

Age

Yuan-Ti typically live longer than humans but not by much, with most living to be about one hundred fifty years old.

Serpentine Traits

The basic form of the Yuan-Ti species assumes that the player character is playing a relatively humanoid member of the species. You can, with the approval of the DM play a member of the Yuan-Ti species that has "ascended" to a more serpentine state. Work with your DM to determine which serpentine traits fit your character best. 
Size. You may choose to be a size other than medium. You may chose to be small or medium size. With your DM's permission you may be large size, but must decrease an ability score by 1.
Monstrosity. You may choose to have the monstrosity creature type rather than the humanoid creature type. This is recommended if you have two or more other serpentine traits.
Poison Immunity. You may choose to replace your poison resistance with poison immunity. If you do, decrease an ability score by 1.
Serpent's Bite. Your head is much more snake like in shape and function. You gain a bite attack that deals piercing damage equal to 1d4 plus your strength modifier. You may, as a bonus action, make any creature you hit with your bite attack this round make a Constitution saving throw (DC 15) gaining the poisoned condition for one minute if they fail. Creatures that pass the save are immune from your poison for one day. poisoning Poisoned creatures may repeat this saving throw at the end of each of their turns. You must decrease an ability score by 1. It is not recommended for players to be allowed to take this trait and Serpent's Tail.
Serpent's Bite. Your legs have been replaced by a long constricting tail. You gain a tail attack that deals bludgeoning damage equal to 1d4 plus your strength modifier. Medium or smaller creatures hit by this attack are grappled by you until they make a strength save of a DC equal to your strength score. You must decrease an ability score by 1. It is not recommended for players to be allowed to take this trait and Serpent's Bite.
Serpent's Scales. Your skin is tough and scaly. When you aren’t wearing armor, your base AC is 13 plus your dexterity modifier. If your natural armor is higher than the AC of the armor you’re wearing, you can use your natural armor instead. A shield’s benefits apply as normal. You must decrease an ability score by 1

Yuan-ti (Getninia) Traits

As a yuan-ti, you have the following racial traits.

Ability Score Increases

When determining your character’s ability scores, your Intelligence score by 2 and increase any other ability score by 1. You can’t raise any of your scores above 20.

Creature Type

You are a Humanoid. At the DM's discretion you may choose to be a Monstrosity instead.

Size

You are Medium.

Speed

Your walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision

You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You discern colors in that darkness only as shades of gray.

Magic Resistance

You have advantage on saving throws against spells.

Poison Resistance

You have advantage on saving throws you make to avoid or end the poisoned condition on yourself. You also have resistance to poison damage.

Serpentine Spellcasting

You know the poison spray cantrip. You can cast animal friendship an unlimited number of times with this trait, but you can target only snakes with it. Starting at 3rd level, you can also cast suggestion with this trait. Once you cast it, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest. You can also cast it using any spell slots you have of 2nd level or higher.

Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells when you cast them with this trait (choose when you select this race).
