Homebrew Sharbolg Race Details

Intelligent masters of surviving in the Shadowfell, servitors of the mysterious Raven Queen, and the tall and foreboding Sharbolg do as their mistress asks. Natural wizards, often necromancers, and despisers of all resurrection magic, Sharbolg often seem emotionless. Though they do have emotions, they are normally the darker ones; rage, rumination, scheming, plotting, lack of empathy, and so on. 

Sharbolg Traits

Residents of the Shadowfell, the Sharbolg have magical, dark powers.

Ability Score Increase

You Intelligence score increases by 2, and your Strength score increases by 1. 

Age

As humanoids who were related to the fey, but are now dwellers of the undying wasteland of the Shadowfell, both of which increase your lifespan. Maturing at around 30 years of age, the average Sharbolg can grow up to 700 years old, with the oldest being 800 years old. 

Alignment

As people who follow the solemn Raven Queen of the Shadowfell, the Sharbolg are often lawful neutral. They can be any alignment, but they tend to not be evil. 

Size

Sharbolg often stand between 7 and a half to 8 and a half feet tall. Your size is medium, and normally weigh between 270 to 350 pounds. Here's how you can randomly determine your height and weight, starting with rolling a size modifier: 

Size modifier = 2d12
Height = 6 + 8 inches + your size modifier in inches
Weight in pounds = 200 + (2d8 x your size modifier)

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet. 

Darkvision

You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. When in darkness, you cannot discern color, and can only see shades of gray. 

Sharbolg Magic

You know the [Tooltip Not Found] cantrip. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the false life spell as a 2nd level spell once with this trait, and you regain the ability to cast it this way when you finish a long rest. At 5th level, you can cast the shadow blade spell once with this feature, and can do so again once you finish a long rest. Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for these spells. 

Merge into Shadow

As a bonus action while in dim light or darkness, you may become invisible. You remain invisible until you attack or make a damage roll, whereupon you become visible, or until a minute passes. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest. 

Powerful Build

You count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, draw, or lift. 

Languages

You can speak, read, write, and understand Common, Elvish, and Giant.
