Homebrew Arachne Race Details
The arachne are a carnivorous demi-human liminal race that have a human torso, but whose lower body is that of a giant spider. The subraces of the arachne fall into any number of categories and professions. They range from powerful warriors and agile hunters to thrifty merchants and skilled artisans. They are perceived with fear and disgust by many of the other races. They are accustomed to hostility they may receive from strangers and travelers, and have developed a cynical view of the world. Their overbearing presence on the battlefield is enough to intimidate the hardiest of warriors, making them an ally's greatest asset and an enemy's worst nightmare.
Web Weavers
The arachne are a carnivorous demi-human liminal race that have a human torso, but whose lower body is that of a giant spider. The humanoid body upper bodies display all human varieties when it comes to skin tone and features, but certain features stand out in the subraces. They typically have six spider-like eyes on their face, but the number can vary with different individuals. Their forearms are covered in an exoskeleton, much like their spider body, and end with sharp, claw-like hands. While the spider body contains a primary opisthosoma, their wrists contain a secondary opisthosoma which also produces silk to assist in their web crafting. The arachne padipalps, which are normally used by spiders for eating, no longer function as such and act more like humanoid thighs. In holding true with spider sexual dimorphism, most females are larger than their male counterparts.
Matriarch Leadership
With the recent advancement of the arachne races, communities have been built and founded under the leadership of matriarch councils. These arachne communities have sprung up in many different environments with most of them being subrace specific. A central leadership exists with a representative from each subrace that partake in the major decision making for the arachne race as a whole. Being a young species with an unsavory impression, the arachne have made a commitment to attempt to prove that they are not the monsters of everyone's misconceptions. Some arachne have moved into other race settlements when they have been met with warm hospitality.

Comments
I feel like Wolf Spider, Solifuges and Recluses need some other benefits other wise the others are just better. Also Tarantulas I think should have one more ability.
I think there's a bit of redundancy here with the different types. Rather than have 7 unbalanced subraces, I'd rather see 3 solid subraces that could be broken up into the more popular style of Arachne. Widows, Tarantulas, and Jumping spiders. If you're going to go into so many types, then where are the trap-door spiders? Or the Fishing Spiders? The list goes on and on.
I appreciate the input. At some point I was looking to expand into more sub races as when it comes to arachnids in general, there are numerous possibilities.
I like the idea and lore, though I feel a race that has a dozen sub races is a bit excessive.
I agree entirely. It's just a bit overwhelming.
Tarantulas are also know for digging burrows.
Look at the Savage Coast Aranea from 2e, for inspiration. Drop it down to 3 total subraces, and watch out for contradicting things.
i really like the idea of the race and i think it'd be cool if WotC made this into an actual race option. i'm gonna bookmark this page so i can see any other ideas you come up with. Also, with my limited knowledge of D&D, here's my list of potential best class for each subrace:
Weavers: Either Wizard or Ranger, depending on if you boost Int or Wis (maybe more so the latter considering the Dex bonus)
Widows: I'm thinking either Wizard (Int), Bard or Sorcerer (Cha), or a Rogue (I usually equate poisons with Rogues/Assassins)
Wolf Spiders: Ranger. Whole subrace practically has it tattooed on their foreheads
Jumpers: Rogue. Mostly because their description mentions they can be surprisingly sneaky when they want to be
Recluses: Cleric or Druid. The Constitution bonus i think would be the most useful for the Cleric
Solifuges: Honestly I don't know about this one, so I guess any Wis or Char caster
Tarantula: Barbarian. Like the Wolf Spiders it pretty much screams Barbarian
Does anyone know the statblock of the claws or can they not be used in combat? I'm planning on making a Saltichne if that influences anything.
Really like where this race is going but feel it could use a little bit more refining since not all of the features track properly into the character builder. Is there another update being planned for this at all? Such as clarification on if Claws gives a natural weapon attack or not and Spider Build not translating correctly for carrying capacity.
I love these options. AsI have had a pet tarantula before and so has my brother, I love spiders and mostly tarantulas. I am glad to have found this and hopefully if I can get a DM to let me play as one of these.
there was so much thought put into this and i greatly admire that.
Duo creature type is the most grievous thing in homebrew. Why would you want to be affected by more spells and effects than necessary?
Thank you for your hard work!!!
Lathrodachnes would be great bards with the charisma and dexterity increase. Plus with the description they probably look beautiful.
Congrats on your homebrew making it as No. 1 in a screen rant blog about homebrew races.
