Homebrew Decatheus Species Details
Dwellers of The Deep
Decatheus typically live in deep parts of the ocean, near the sea floor, and as such, they've adapted to their environment nearly perfectly. Their specialized vision allows them to see through the darkness of the abyssal trenches of the sea, and some of them have even opted into bioluminescence. Their squishy bodies are perfect for coasting through the waters of the ocean, and they can even camouflage themselves to avoid being noticed. However, due to this heavy investment in marine living, they can struggle on land on occasion.
Otherworldly Appearance
Due to the Decatheus' deep sea home, they have a vastly different physical appearance to most other races. Although they're still humanoids, their forms look very alien in comparison to nearly every other race. They have long tentacles with suckers, and beaks that they use to eat and peck at prey. They also have elongated heads to hold their enhanced brains. Decatheus tend to range from 4 to 5 feet tall.
Personality
Most Decatheus tend to be in the neutral area of alignment, not straying to good or evil. They simply do what they can to survive. Their great intellect means that they can sympathize with other creatures, and even help them in some cases, but more often than not, they keep to themselves and do what makes them safe and comfortable. However, this does not mean that they're entirely incapable of being good or evil. Many kind and compassionate Decatheus have been documented, as well as several sinister and hateful ones. It truly just depends on their experience.
