Homebrew Chiaroscuro Species Details

Chiaroscuro are a rare merging of bloodlines where one parent is from a cursed lineage, such as a Tiefling, and the other a blessed or celestial bloodline, such as an Aasimar. Children of such unions rarely survive but on occasion, the parents do produce a Chiaroscuro who lives past infancy. They often express a mix of traits from both lineages although sometimes the mix of holy and demonic traits can conflict with each other and curse the child with a vulnerability or ailment that affects them for the entirety of their lives.

Mixed Bloodline

Chiaroscuro often express features from both their lineages. Most have horns, tails, or fangs associated with their infernal heritage, and some posses wings or glowing eyes from their holy lineage. Chiaroscuro are, without exception ethereal in appearance, gifted with a rare grace and beauty. With skin varying in hue from palest white to a deep ebony black and often silken hair and fine facial features.

Fair or Foul

Most Chiaroscuro are well aware of the allure they have on the other races and many use this attraction to their benefit. Whether they choose to become a saint or a sinner a Chiaroscuro rarely finds itself struggling to find those willing to work with and support them in their endeavors. They often find themselves the leaders in whatever circles they operate in, be that the leader of a church or head of a crime syndicate.
