Ten berries appear in your hand and are infused with magic for the duration. A creature can take a Bonus Action to eat one berry. Eating a berry restores 1 Hit Point, and the berry provides enough nourishment to sustain a creature for one day.
Uneaten berries disappear when the spell ends.

Posted Apr 1, 2025Unfortunately that doesn't work anymore with the 2024 version of the Life Cleric subclass. They changed the Disciple of Life feature so that it now says it only works "on the turn you cast the spell", meaning it doesn't affect things like goodberries that restore HP later after the spell is cast.
I guess it could still work if you ate one berry yourself on the same turn you cast the spell, but it wouldn't work on other people, or for subsequent berries.

Posted Jun 15, 2025Since one berry provides the nutrition you need for a day, but the spell creates 10 berries (and I assume you can eat all 10 out of combat to restore 10 hp) I keep thinking of that scene in LotR where I think Merry and Pippin find out that one bite of Lembas bread can sustain a person for a day... after the two of them eat 3-4 Lembas each LOL.

Posted Oct 10, 2025The duration is 24 hours. As an elf ranger with two spell slots, I can cast goodberry twice per long rest, and my long rest is only 4 hours. In one day, I can cast goodberry 6 times and, assuming that the berries are eaten within 24 hours, I can indefinitely sustain a village of 120 people by casting goodberry twice immediately after my long rest.

Posted Jan 28, 2026So this spell essetually wipes out starvation/famin and has those that can cast is (Rangers/Druids) either overlords or slaves in area's of no/low food.
It also makes basic healing potions basically useless.
Basic healing potion = 10hp at most.
Druid/Ranger with this spell simply uses all remaining spell slots before long rest on this spell. (Lets assume one spell slot), For the next day you have essentually 10 small helaing potions for the purpose of getting someone up from zero.
Or you can give all 10 to one person to eat to get 10hp.
More splel slots you end a day with the more silly this gets.
Personally, I feel this should be 1d4 berries per spell slot, lasts until dawn. That would litterally stop this from getting broken/abused and nullifying a part of a campaign that might be interesting.
