You conjure nature spirits that flit around you in a 10-foot Emanation for the duration. Whenever the Emanation enters the space of a creature you can see and whenever a creature you can see enters the Emanation or ends its turn there, you can force that creature to make a Wisdom saving throw. The creature takes 5d8 Force damage on a failed save or half as much damage on a successful one. A creature makes this save only once per turn.
In addition, you can take the Disengage action as a Bonus Action for the spell’s duration.
Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot. The damage increases by 1d8 for each spell slot level above 4.

Posted Nov 1, 2025The Range isn't quite clear.
Is it
a) a sphere with 10 foot radius, that is centered on the caster (like the summary table at the top suggests)?
That would make it almost completely useless for mooncircle druids, because most useful combat wildshapes have size category "huge" (15x15'). So the spells area would only reach enemies 2.5' directly in front, at the back and at the sides of the druid. Enemies at the diagonal corners wouldn't evrn be touched by the spell.
Or is it
B) 10 feet around the "borders" of the casters body (like the text "flit around you" suggests.
That would make the area 35x35 feet if the caster is in huge form. That's more than 4times as large as option a)

Posted Nov 3, 2025It's B. The definition of the "Emanation" area type in the Player's Handbook describes how it works.

Posted Jan 5, 2026Works super well I'd a monk grapples the caster and uses their crazy movement to eviscerate armies

Posted Feb 4, 2026When I read "you can force that creature to make a Wisdom saving throw", to me it seemed optional. You can force the ST, but you don't have to. So can the caster select the targets affected by the spell in the emanation?

Posted Feb 9, 2026That's correct. The idea being that if one of your allies enters the spell's area of effect, you can choose for them to not roll the save. If a creature doesn't roll the save at all, they do not take any damage from the spell (not even the half damage dealt on a successful save).

Posted Mar 30, 2026It conjures nature spirits!
I like that they leave it open to interpretation, but it might be nice for them to make some suggestions for newer players.
I find all of the suggestions from Find Familiar to be pretty solid.
Extra laughs go to those that conjure an Emanation of Octopuses or a Cloud of Kittens.
