You summon a fey spirit that take the form of a beast and it appears in a unoccupied space that you can see within range, the animal can only appear in spaces similar to where a beast of it's type would normally be, no fish or wolves in the sky, no badgers underwater. Choose one beast of challenge rating 1/4 or lower that is not a swarm.
The beast is also considered fey, and it disappears when it drops to 0 hit points or when the spell ends.
The summoned creature is friendly to you and your companions. It has it's own turn which is immediately after yours. They obey any verbal commands that you issue to them (no action required by you). If you don't issue any commands to them, they defend themselves from hostile creatures, but otherwise take no actions.
The GM has the creatures' statistics. Sample creatures can be found below.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using certain higher-level spell slots, 2nd level slot allows CR 1/2, 3rd level slot CR 2 and each spell slot level above that increases the CR by 1.

Posted May 18, 2022Huh, this is a surprisingly well balanced spell for summoning creatures at a low level. I think it is cool and I am showing this to my party's druid.
