Chains of Despair

A spectral, ghostly chain flies from your hand and binds a creature within range. The target must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or become cursed and connected to you by the spectral chain. Constructs are immune to this spell. While cursed, the following effects occur:

• Damage Sharing: Whenever the cursed target deals damage to you, you only take half of the damage, and the cursed target takes the other half as psychic damage. This damage cannot be reduced or transferred in any way.
• Intimidation Advantage: You have advantage on all Intimidation checks made against the cursed target.
• Agonizing Action: While the target is within range (60 feet), you can use a bonus action on your turn to deal 1d4 psychic damage to the cursed target. This damage represents the pain induced by the spectral chain.

If you die while this spell is active, the cursed target takes 6d12 necrotic damage. This damage increases by 3d12 for each spell slot level above 3rd.

A remove curse spell ends this effect.

At Higher Levels. If you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the duration is concentration, up to 1 hour. If you use a spell slot of 5th level or higher, the duration is 24 hours. I 6th level or higher, the duration is 1 week. If you use a spell slot of 7th level, the duration is 1 month. If you use a spell slot of 8th level, the duration is 1 year. If you use a spell slot of 9th level, the curse lasts until it is removed. Using a spell slot of 5th level or higher grants a duration that doesn't require concentration. Additionally, the necrotic damage dealt to the cursed target upon your death increases by 3d12 for each slot level above 3rd.
