Summoning

You summon a demon that appears in an unoccupied space that you can see within range. The nature of the demon is randomly determined after the space is chosen.

  • Roll 3d6 to determine Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma separately,
  • Roll 4d12 to determine the demon's hit points, divide by 4 to determine its Constitution modifier,
  • Roll 1d4 to determine its Dexterity modifier, AC = 11 + Dex,
  • Roll 1d4 to determine its Strength modifier, also equals number of d4 for Claw damage,
  • Roll 3d4 and multiply by 5 feet to determine its speed, a 10 or higher gives the demon a flight speed,
  • Roll 1d6 to determine its size, 1-2: small, 3-4: medium, 5-6: large.

It is a fiend (demon), with chaotic evil alignment. The demon has resistances to cold, fire, lightning and poison damage. It has darkvision to 60 ft, can speak Abyssal and has a telepathic link to its summoner. It can use its action to make a Claw attack. +Strength modifier to hit, reach 5 ft., one target.  Hit: (strength modifier)d4+strength modifier slashing damage, plus 1d6 poison damage.

Whether the summoned demon is friendly to you and your companions requires a contest of your spellcasting modifier. If you beat the demon it will obey any verbal commands that you issue (no action required by you). If you don't issue any commands, it defends itself from hostile creatures, but otherwise take no actions.

If you fail to beat the demon’s roll, it will become hostile towards you and your allies for the spell’s duration. The contest cannot be repeated.
