You pull wisps of shadow material from the Shadowfell to create a nonliving object of vegetable matter within range: soft goods, rope, wood, or something similar. You can also use this spell to create mineral objects such as stone, crystal, or metal. The object created must be no larger than a 5-foot cube, and the object must be of a form and material that you have seen before.
The duration depends on the object's material. If the object is composed of multiple materials, use the shortest duration.
Material | Duration |
---|---|
Vegetable matter | 1 day |
Stone or crystal | 12 hours |
Precious metals | 1 hour |
Gems | 10 minutes |
Adamantine or mithral | 1 minute |
Using any material created by this spell as another spell's material component causes that spell to fail.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, the cube increases by 5 feet for each slot level above 5th.
* - (a tiny piece of matter of the same type of the item you plan to create)
As a dm I would allow for two reasons: it has a casting time of 1 minute, so you would have to have 10 rounds of combat before this worked. Secondly this is a 5th level spell and hideous laughter is a 1st. Or entangle, which is a 2nd. So in that light this doesn't seem overly game breaking.
Edit: Sorry this was supposed to be a response to trapping creatures inside it
I'm make ng a cube of gunpowder and exploding it with a max level fireball... I plan on making the world first nuke
Golden statuette? Golden dice? golden goblet? Golden plate? all can be found or seen in a town that has any wealth at all. And form and configuration are 2 separate things, so a goblet can be made with the same outward appearance, but solid instead of hollow.
I mean, if you've seen fissile material before, a 5 foot cube is we'll above the critical mass of, any and all of them... You could just at will summon a real nuke and with glyph of warding you don't have to be there when it goes off....
Glyph of Warding-->Creation to make an adamantine cage appear around a medium or smaller enemy.
I'd just like to point out that according to xanathar's, adamantine weapons will always deal damage as if the hit was a crit.
you could totally encase enemies in metal with this. Like wall of force, except with extra suffocation.
An osmium block, 30 ft above an enemy, weighing over 3,000kg. Instant death.
