A bright streak flashes from your pointing finger to a point you choose within range and then blossoms with a low roar into an explosion of flame. Each creature in a 20-foot-radius sphere centered on that point must make a Dexterity saving throw. A target takes 8d6 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
The fire spreads around corners. It ignites flammable objects in the area that aren't being worn or carried.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 3rd.
* - (a tiny ball of bat guano and sulfur)
Or meteor swarm. It's fireball, but 4 of them!
I make it so that if the enemy rolls a nat 1 on the save, it's basically a crit
seems more harmful to your companions in a close-quarters brawl or that kind of fight.
Can any Genie patroned warlock use this spell, or must it be only the Efreeti? It's unclear. The book seems to suggest that you need to stay in your Genie's domain's swim lane when offered additional spells, but D&D Beyond allows you add it as a 3rd level spell even if you're not an Efreeti Warlock. (e.g., I'm a Djinni Warlock but it becomes available to me in D&D Beyond when I get access to 3rd level spells and I've used it successfully).
BOOYAHG!
Question, let's say an enemy spellcaster casts Fireball, could a player cast Catapult on the "bright streak" that is produced by casting Fireball and send it back towards the enemy spellcaster?
What keeps Conjure Animals in check is the fact, that you do not control what you summon. Otherwise, it would be crazy overpowered
What ye are missing is that it is fun to shoor people with a giant flame ball of fury and watch the chaos unfold as the battleground is consumed in flames, the enemies melt, and you just keep on going. TLDR: Its fun ta blow shit up
Fun idea, but no.
Fireball isn't an object. Use counterspell instead
*snorts*
I mean, he has a point...
I dont care how big the room is, i cast fireball!
Who of you was gonna tell me that fireball requires what to me reads as a literal piece of heces
The Classic
? i got one that does 7d10...
However in Conjure Animals, it says:
You summon fey spirits that take the form of beasts and appear in unoccupied spaces that you can see within range. Choose one of the following options for what appears:
And
When you cast a spell like conjure woodland beings, does the spellcaster or the DM choose the creatures that are conjured? A number of spells in the game let you summon creatures. Conjure animals, conjure celestial, conjure minor elementals, and conjure woodland beings are just a few examples.
Some spells of this sort specify that the spellcaster chooses the creature conjured. For example, find familiar gives the caster a list of animals to choose from.
Other spells of this sort let the spellcaster choose from among several broad options. For example, conjure minor elementals offers four options. Here are the first two:
The design intent for options like these is that the spellcaster chooses one of them, and then the DM decides what creatures appear that fit the chosen option. For example, if you pick the second option, the DM chooses the two elementals that have a challenge rating of 1 or lower.
It only provides a sample for the DM to choose from, it does not say that the player gets to choose.
i may be missing something, why are people talking about conjure animals in the fireball spell comments?
