Fire
A bright streak flashes from your pointing finger to a point you choose within range and then blossoms with a low roar into an explosion of flame. Each creature in a 20-foot-radius sphere centered on that point must make a Dexterity saving throw. A target takes 8d6 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
The fire spreads around corners. It ignites flammable objects in the area that aren't being worn or carried.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 3rd.

i got a dm to rage quit by using fireball and flurry of strikes as well as using fireball as my main attack which lead to some insane damage but i had to be a tiefling to prevent the fire damage
in my campaign, this is a lvl 1 because it's cool and that's how I always play it just letting people know you can make it a lvl 1 if wanted
If you are charmed during the summoning period your conjures become no longer under your control also if you are not of the conjuration school then getting attacked during that period also causes you to lose control of your conjures. When losing control they attack you your allies or the closest thing there so like it is risky. Plus fireball's damage can be raised by increasing the lvl of spell slot used unlike the conjures. Tho liggtning bot is my battle preference cause it is a straight line aoe instead of sphere aoe. Same damage tho
yes
I just realized when looking at some of my efreeti genie warlock spells for a character that flame strike does the same damage as fireball with a smaller radius and smaller range for a 5th level spell slot in oppose to a 3rd level one...
Yes, doesn't require sight but can only originate on a point in a straight line from you
You are missing the pyromania. Doesn't the idea of incinerating your enemies with a giant, blossoming sphere of raging fire appeal to you at all?
Yep. As long as it's in range.
hehe fireball go boom
This is actually terrifying.
Can you pick fireball for a bard because on mine its not showing up
Fireball AoE. I've checked various sources and the text leaves vague how the fireball fills volume. In 5e it only states "spreads around corners" while in 2e it states "will generally conform to the shape of the area in which it occurs, thus covering an area equal to its spherical volume."
So the real question is ? When a 5e fireball "spreads around corners" does this mean
A) it conforms to the shape of the room until it reaches 33,333 cu ft as the 2e fireball did ?
B) it spreads attempting to fill the 20 ft radius volume and stops spreading ?
Please note that nothing in either 2e or 5e are contradictory. The 2e explanation can be accepted as the detailed version of fireball while the 5e is an abbreviated explanation.
Fireball. The main reason why wizards are, in my opinion, the most powerful class.
You know the roof on fire
We gon' boogie oogie oggi, jiggle, wiggle and dance
Like the roof on fire
We gon' drink drink and take shots until we fall out
Like the roof on fire
Now baby give a booty naked, take off all your clothes,
and light the roof on fire
Tell her baby baby baby baby
I'm in fire
I tell her baby baby baby
I'm a fireball
Or should I say, I saw I conquered, I came
They say the Chico on fire and he no liar
While y'all slippin' he runnin' the game
Now big bang boogie
Get that kitty little noogie
In a nice nice little shade
I gave Suzie a little pat up on the booty
And she turned around and said
Walk this way
Mama said that everyone would know my name
I'm the best… More
Some guy in a YouTube comment section jokingly told me to make a Fireball Parody of a SpongeBob song called “Barnacles”. I did it for fun, and I wanted to share it here:
Fireball:
We all know wizards can learn many spells (I can’t even Count ‘em!)
You can use them to fix many problems using your head.
But if you don’t have the right one prepared, you will be dead.
So following Jocrap, we have a spell that’s preferred.
We just use FIREBALL!
It’s a spell that’s ok to cast, when you want to have a blast, and take foes out really fast.
We just cast FIREBALL!
And go on our merry way.
FIREBALL is the way we defeat what they say we can’t beat!
A hoard of zombies came into the town, I went down, thought I’d try to fight ‘em.
Magic Missile would do me no good against that many foes.
The zombies found me from the sound and I started running,
But then I remembered the one word that would end up saving me.
I shouted FIREBALL!
It’s a spell I learnt here,
Great for instilling fear,
Makes your troubles disappear!
When you cast FIREBALL!
All the livelong day,
FIREBALL is the way we defeat, what they say we can’t beat!
It’s the best spell that you’ve ever heard.
It’s a marvelous magical word.
When you need to break a wall, FIREBALL!
When your bombs don’t blow, FIREBALL!
When you put out your torch, FIREBALL! FIREBALL!
Woo-hoo!
It’s the best spell that you’ve ever heard.
It’s a marvelous magical word.
I got in to a tip about a new spell, I thought “well, I gues I can try it”.
My teammate would not steer me wrong, he’s a real sharp guy.
The results didn’t show! I would know! So I reopened me spellbook.
FIREBALL! I exclaimed as I kissed my foes goodbye!
So just say FIREBALL! When your at the end of your rope!
Don’t you sit around and mope,
Or be used to make glue and soap!
Simply cast FIREBALL!
And go on your merry way!
FIREBALL is the way we defeat what they say...
FIREBALL is the way,
When you have a bad day.
Fireball is the way we defeat what they say we can’t beat!
F I R E B A L L!
boom
yes

On the first page someone asked about whether this would be considered an Arcane Spell, and it is a good question. So the difference between Divine/Profane and Arcane spells in 5e is actually who is casting the spell. If a Cleric, Paladin, Druid or Ranger were to cast this spell, it would be considered Divine/Profane as the source of the caster's power came from Divine or Profane sources. If a Wizard, Bard, Sorcerer or Warlock were to cast it, it would be Arcane. In Fifth Edition it doesn't really matter in most Adventuerer's League stuff about this particular tidbit, but in Homebrew settings, 3.5e, Pathfinder, and other d20 games, you may come into contact with situations where this knowledge is actually important.
Divine vs Profane will probably also come up, and really, Divine is anything related to the Good and Neutral aligned Gods and Goddesses, and Profane is anything related to the Evil aligned gods.
Interestingly enough, circle of wildfire doesn't get this.
