At your touch, all curses affecting one creature or object end. If the object is a cursed magic item, its curse remains, but the spell breaks its owner’s attunement to the object so it can be removed or discarded.
As DM you can pretty much do whatever you need to do to make the story interesting (within reason)
I once created a cursed cat. If struck or attacked the cat would curse you so that every time the player sits down there is a cat in their lap. The cat acts as an immovable rod essentially locking the player into a seated position. The curse had to be cured via several removal spells each time decreasing the chances a cat would appear.
I'm guessing that creating undead is purely necromantic and technically not curses?
Correct. Also if you want to look into Vampires, look into the Succubus Lore, because that's the Original Vampire: Succubi Kiss Survivor = True Vampire Lord. Spells like True Resurrection cure undeath... When specified... And when not Born that way.
Should be noted that last part is what makes this ineffective at curing any Shifter Player Race fully of their Shifting, because you can't cure what you're born with, even with Wish itself. That's Canon.
Note that this is not on a "Willing" creature. Had a Fighter in my last campaign who had a curse where he was tracked by an ancient demon lord, and the Cleric cast this on him without warning. Half the continent was burning within months and the entire story derailed to solving this issue. Be careful whose curse you break.
One powerful use of remove curse is against lycanthropes. Since lycanthropy is a curse, remove curse can just un-lycanthrope your enemies in the middle of a battle.
Remove curse does not break the vessel, it ends your attunement to it.
If a creature is affected by Geas that was cast with a lvl 8 spell slot (giving the spell a year-long duration). What level spell slot of Remove Curse would be needed? A minimum of lvl 8 or any?
Not that that would make much of a difference seeing how it only takes an action to cast and has no save or attack roll against unwilling subjects
So could you technically cast this against a werewolf during combat and completely strip him of his powers?
Hello and good day,
I had a spell placed against me.... I am certain that this was done via my ex-girlfriend, bad luck bankruptcy and loss of carreer befell me.
How mayI remove this spell with speed...?
Please add this to my wishlist
Please list all the curse related spells which this spell can affect, its been really challenging trying to find each individual spell which can be removed with remove curse
This spell is too powerful for a 3rd level with just V & S components. I like to make this a skill check when casting to make things a little more interesting. Seriously, some people put a lot of time and energy into cursing things :)
Seriously, love this! May have to find a way to weave this one into my campaign.
Remove Curse says that if the Target is a Cursed Magic Item it breaks attunement, if you target someone who is affected by a Cursed magic Item is the result the same?
Have a Cleric cursed by the Berserker Axe and Bestow Curse at the same time and want to figure out how Remove would affect the item's Curse
Something I noticed. If the spell is cast on a cursed magic item, the curse remains, but the owner becomes unattuned. However, it says nothing about what happens if the spell is instead cast on the cursed character. Does this mean that a character could attune to a Berserker Axe, for example, then have Remove Curse cast on them to remove the effects of the curse on them while still being attuned to the weapon? As the spell was not cast on the weapon, attunement is not broken, and there is nothing that says that the character's curse can't be removed.
I assume it's up to DM interpretation, but it should work RAW.
By the way what does the curse of lycanthropy actually do?
So if you are fighting a werewolf, I can just boop him on the nose and turn him back into a confused human? It doesnt say anything about attack rolls or saves, and touching a creature that wants to eat your organs isnt very hard.
Can I cast this on the stone of ill luck if I'm attuned to it? It only says I cannot unwillingly part from it, but it says nothing about choosing to break the curse myself.
Only if the lycanthrope is a creature cursed during its lifetime. If it is born a lycanthrope, it takes a wish.
