You ward a creature within range against attack. Until the spell ends, any creature who targets the warded creature with an attack or a harmful spell must first make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creature must choose a new target or lose the attack or spell. This spell doesn't protect the warded creature from area effects, such as the explosion of a fireball.
If the warded creature makes an attack, casts a spell that affects an enemy, or deals damage to another creature, this spell ends.

If you cast Compelled Duel and then have Sanctuary cast on you, the effects can overlap. A target successfully affected by Compelled Duel would have disadvantage on attacking anyone but you, but would be forced to make a wisdom save before they could attack you.
How do you determine the Wisdom saving throw DC?
The caster's spell save DC (8 + proficiency bonus + spellcasting ability). So, for Artificer, it'd be Intelligence; Cleric, Wisdom; Paladins, Genie Warlock, and Bards (in case you wanted to grab it through Magical Secrets), Charisma.
if you are the one to cast the spell, technically you are within 30ft so I would say yes.
Compelled Duel then Sanctuary.
Since you cast the spell affecting an enemy before casting Sanctuary, and maintaining Concentration on it isn't the same as casting it, and Sanctuary has no limitation on Concentrating on a pre-cast spell that the casting of would break Sanctuary, you can protect yourself and others both at once rather effectively!
Target of Compelled Duel has to Wis Save to move someplace over 30 feet from you and has disadvantage to attack not you, but also need to Wis Save in order to attack you!
@belfastbiker I’d allow that. I mean, it doesn’t specifically say you can’t use it on a familiar...it states a creature(that says dog, cat, elf, owl to me)
How does Sanctuary work with opportunity attacks? If someone has Sanctuary on themselves, moves away from and enemy, the enemy fails its save and must choose another target or lose its attack, can it direct it's opportunity attack at another player in range? Or does it lose its reaction/attack because there are no "valid" targets?
Can a creature inside the bubble still move?
1, those are both concentration spells. 2, spirit guardians would end sanctuary as soon as it does damage, but spiritual weapon would only end sanctuary of you use it to attack
Sanctuary actually isn't Concentration. Its duration of 1 min, unless you take an aggressive action. This means if you compel duel before sanctuary, you can effectively dodge tank for the party, and still heal them if need be.
“I am not the cleric you’re looking for. Move along”
So with this I can stride into a battlefield and heal and buff allies safe in the knowledge that only enemies who succeed on their saving throw will attack me?
i think so im pretty sure because it dosent say anything about it you can still do continus damdge spell s through conecetration
but they might just take the disidvantege it is what most frontline fighters would do as the genrly have low wis int cha but high str con dex
Would Spirit Guardians end sanctuary though? Specifically if you cast it before you cast Sanctuary? Because technically didn’t make an attack, you didn’t cast a spell (it was already cast) and you didn’t damage an enemy (the spirit guardians did).
I would agree with you about Spiritual Weapon since you’re actually making an attack with it. Not convinced about Spirit Guardians. I think there is a case to be made that it doesn’t end sanctuary.
@Samso1 Thinking that, it's hilarious knowing that Monks of the Open Palm have semi-permanent Sanctuary all day.

A good use for this is Dashing past opponents to proc Opportunity attacks. each attack would require wisdom saving throws or they lose the attack, (which would be their reaction of course) Crazy right?
