You ward a creature within range against attack. Until the spell ends, any creature who targets the warded creature with an attack or a harmful spell must first make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creature must choose a new target or lose the attack or spell. This spell doesn't protect the warded creature from area effects, such as the explosion of a fireball.
If the warded creature makes an attack, casts a spell that affects an enemy, or deals damage to another creature, this spell ends.

Yes, you actually can
While a good idea to stack other critical spells, i would personally rule Armor of Agathys working in conjunction with Sanctuary, but now Spirit Guardians.
My reasoning is that the essense of what makes sanctuary possible is that you are attempting to not be threatening/overtly dangerous to enemy who would otherwise want to mash you to a pulp. This is why making an attack, or adversely affecting an enemy with a spell breaks sanctuary.
While yes, spirit guardians is not you directly attacking them, just an area where they will take damage if they are close to you, the description of the spell is that the reason they take damage is the undead, demons or celestials flitting about the area ARE attacking them.
And personally i would take that as a threat even if the guy behind it all is shouting PEACE! I WANT PEACE!
other spells may also work better in conjunction with sanctuary though.
If you had already cast spirit guardians then cast sanctuary would it end once the spirit guardians have harmed an enemy?
You couldn't use faerie fire as this affects an enemy and requires them to make a dex save. Bardic inspiration, bless etc will be fine.
It says "a creature within range", not "another creature within range" so yea!
Does using "Rebuke the Violent" negate Sanctuary?
Cast spirit guardians,, then next round cast sanctuary on yourself, and use your action to dodge. Walk around. Terrorize evil doers the world over.
The only problem with that is if cast on you, you cant attack or cast any damaging spells. All you can do is cast buffs. Not even debuffs. So youre giving up all of your attacks and damage output to force them to make a wis save every turn to hurt you.
They lose the attack. Creatures can't act in any way other than reactions in response to an effect before it happens.
I would say it would not work, but we disagree on the third point. "You can use your Channel Divinity to rebuke those who use violence. Immediately after an attacker within 30 feet of you deals damage with an attack against a creature other than you, you can use your reaction to force the attacker to make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the attacker takes radiant damage equal to the damage it just dealt. On a successful save, it takes half as much damage." You force the creature to make a saving throw, and it takes damage because of it. Fundamental disagreement so that's up to you and your DM.
Someone on youtube found a quote from Jeremy Crawford saying that this would work rules as written, but not really rules as intended. So the guardians would still damage and leave Sanctuary up and running.
Remember, it's a Bonus Action to cast. If you have a front liner in trouble you can cast it on them and they get protection. Even if it only serves to stop the baddie from faceplanting them one round, battles usually don't run more than 3-5 rounds so that might be enough to save a resurrection or worse.
Cast on a familiar/thief that's scouting, cast on your clunky character while they stealth separately from your group, save the fallen from death till you can 1hp heal them, use on yourself while buffing/healing/retrib. damaging/holding down a whole group of minions so bbeg won't interrupt your concentration/cast it on your Pegasus while you fly, there are lots of usages for this spell.
My personal favorite is casting Blade Barrier followed by Sanctuary on yourself. If they can target you then resisted. You can cast Mirror Image the next round. Who needs armor class. :)
IMO, I think Sanctuary is one of the top level 1 spells in the game.
Can I use this spell on people?
yes, unless specified otherwise.
I just figured this out but using the subsequent actions from the Telekinesis spell to still keep people stuck isn't casting a spell or an attack. So you can still be a menace keeping enemies stuck while people have to bypass this spell first before getting an attack on you to break your concentration. I guess it's still peaceful to keep people fully restrained mid air while your friend stabs them with advantage.
If I cast Sanctuary on my Owl familiar and then owl delivers my subsequent touch spell on an enemy...is the owl considered to have cast a spell on the enemy? Naturally it cannot involve an attack roll since Familiars cannot attack (e.g. Bestow Curse should be legit). It does not seem like the owl is casting the spell, only delivering it. But Find Familiar says "as if it had cast the spell".
If an enemy would try to dispel sanctuary would this be considered a harmful spell therefor requiring the wisdom save?
Dispel magic is not inherently harmful but using it to dispel a buff or a protection is a hostile act.
Personally I would let dispel magic get rid of a sanctuary spell without incurring the saving throw but I'm curious of what other people think.
I hope ANOTHER CREATURE means I can stall and gain stacks of blood boons with vital sacrifice feat from the taldorei reborn book.
Dude this is lowkey kinda broken against martial classes.
I don't think so, the only exception would probably be Teeth of Dahlver-Nar's "Duggle's Surprising Day"
If someone attacks a creature with this spell but they have multiattack, can they forgo the attack and attempt to attack the same creature again? By the looks of it you can, but this conflicts with the intent of the spell:
