The Hoplon Warrior Class for Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) Fifth Edition (5e)

Base Class: Fighter

Hoplon Warriors share an unparalleled mastery with weapons and armor, and a thorough knowledge of the skills of combat. They are well acquainted with death, both meting it out and staring it defiantly in the face.

Hoplon Mastery

you have trained well in the waiys of Shield Combat, and have become proficient with 3 abilities:-

Shield Bash - as a bonus action you can attack using your shield as a melee weapon

Shield Throw - as a bonus action you can throw your shield at an enemy, if successful the opponenet must make a constitution save

Shield Vault - ready your shield allowing an ally to vault off you

Ricochet

Beginning at 7th level, when you use your Shield Throw, you can aim it so if there is a second target within 20ft of your opponent that isnt directly behind the initial target they are both hit and must make the CON Save.

(AC of second target must also be beat for damage to be taken)

Enhanced Perception

Beginning at 10th level your perceptions are heigtened granting you these 2 abilities:-

- Guardian -
on any attack you can see on you or an ally within 60ft, as a Reaction you can force the enemy to have disadvantage on their rolls by feigning a Shield Throw.

You can use this feature an amount of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus Between Short rests.

- Know Thy Enemy -
you learn how to make your weapon strikes undercut a creature’s resistance to your Attacks. When a creature is hit with Shield Throw and fails its save, that creature has Advantage on all attacks against it untill the start of its turn.

Precision

At 15th level, your Shield Throw no longer is hindered by cover up to 3/4 as you are able to bouce your Shield off walls and other objects to hit your opponent.

Spartan Ricochet

Starting at 18th level, when you use your Shield Throw and Ricochet you can add a third enemy to hit. Once the last enemy is hit providing the enemy last hit is within 20ft on you you can catch your shield.

(AC of second and third target must also be beat for damage to be taken)

ive been made aware of the fact that this page info doesnt show the stats of the shield, i made a mistake and you must use the subclass in a build to see its properties.

so i shall add them here for anyone interested, along with a link to a D&D beyond sheet of a level 20 Hoplon Warrior for you to try out.

Shield Bash - as a bonus action you can attack using your shield as a melee weapon, this attack does 1d6 + STR Bludgeoning damage.

Shield Throw - as a bonus action you can throw your shield at an enemy (as with Shield Bash it also does 1d6 + STR Bludgeoning damage), if successful the opponenet must make a constitution save of 8 + PROF + STR. if enemy fails save the next attack on them has advantage untill the start of its turn.

Shield Vault - once per turn you can hold an attack action to ready your shield allowing an ally to vault off you adding 5ft to their movement by 1d4 + your STR modifier (if an enemy is in the direction of their vault they can choose to land sooner on the space just before the enemy, and can also be used to reach an enemy that is flying if within range)
