Base Class: Wizard
The School of Necromancy explores the cosmic forces of life, death, and undeath. As you focus your studies in this tradition, you learn to manipulate the energy that animates all living things. As you progress, you learn to sap the life force from a creature as your magic destroys its body, transforming that vital energy into magical power you can manipulate.
In some cultures, wizards learn special forms of necromancy to combat the ever-present threat of the undead and evil magic by turning their own powers against them.
Necromancy Savant
Beginning when you select this school at 2nd level, the gold and time you must spend to copy a necromancy spell into your spellbook is halved.
Cycle of Death
At 2nd level, you gain the ability to harvest magical energy from death to bolster your own abilities. When you reduce a creature to 0 hit points, your next necromancy spell deals additional damage equal to the creature's number of Hit Dice. This value doubles if you reduced the creature to 0 hit points with a wizard necromancy spell. This additional damage is cumulative, but wears off after taking a short or a long rest.
Arcane Exorcism
At 6th level, you have become skilled in expurgating magics that influence other creatures. When a creature makes an attack against you, you can use your reaction to attempt to dispel one magical effect on that creature. If the effect has an existing saving throw (such as the effect of dominate person), the creature makes that save with a bonus equal to your Intelligence modifier. If not, the spell's caster must make a concentration saving throw against your spell save DC. This ability can also break a spellcaster's control over a summoned or animated creature (like a zombie created by animate dead). Upon a successful use of this ability, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest.
Enhanced Necromancy
Starting at 10th level, you have learned how to bring the full power of necromancy to bear against any foe. You ignore resistance to Necrotic damage, and if a foe is immune to Necrotic damage you can treat it as resistant instead. Additionally, your wizard spells can always affect undead, even if the spell would not normally have an effect on them.
Forbidden Power
By 14th level you have unlocked the most lethal secrets of necromancy. You can add Necrotic damage equal to your Intelligence modifier to one damage roll of any wizard necromancy spell you cast, including cantrips. In addition, when you roll damage for a wizard spell you cast that deals Necrotic damage, you can reroll ones. You must use the new rolls, even if they are also ones.
