Mimic Brood

Mimics and other shapechangers are experts of deception, possessing strange, fleshwarping abilities that allow them to take on false appearances, either to lure in prey, trick others, or to move unseen and undisturbed through hostile environments.

As a Mimic Brood sorcerer, you’ve obtained a facsimile of these strange abilities, along with an innate talent for magic and sorcery. You may be the child of a doppelganger or changeling; you may share bodies with a mimic who has granted you powers in exchange for letting it live within you; or perhaps you were the victim of an unfortunate mishap with the shapechange, polymorph or alter self spells.

Mimic Magic

Beginning at 1st level, you’ve learnt how to innately cast certain magical spells related to mimics and shapechanging. You learn additional spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown on the Mimic Brood Spells table. Each spell counts as a sorcerer spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the number of sorcerer spells you know.

Mimic Brood Spells

Sorcerer Level	Spells
1st	disguise self, silent image
3rd	alter self, mirror image
5th	major image, meld into stone
7th	polymorph, stone shape
9th	animate objects, seeming

Morph Shape

At 1st level, your connection to mimics and shapechangers has allowed you to temporarily take the form of mundane objects. As an action, you can choose to take on the form of any object that is of the same or smaller size category as you. While you’ve taken on the form of an object, you can see and hear as normal, but cannot move, attack, cast spells or talk. You remain in your object form until you are unconscious, or until you choose to end it as a bonus action. To all outward inspection, you appear to be a normal object. A creature that has been given reason to suspect you’re not a normal object, may make an Intelligence (Investigation) check against your spell save DC. On a success, they figure out that the object is magical or strange in some way.

Copied Outcome

Also at 1st level, you can mimic the abilities and achievements of others. When a creature you can see within 30 feet of you succeeds on an ability check, attack roll or saving throw, you can use your reaction to copy and record the result. You can only have one result recorded at a time. Whenever you make an ability check, attack roll or saving throw, you can choose to forgo rolling and instead use the recorded result.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.

Deceptive Mask

At 6th level, you can take on the appearance of others to trick and confuse your enemies. When a creature casts a spell or makes an attack that only targets you, you can use your reaction to force it to make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the spell or attack missed and is wasted, and the creature becomes charmed by you until the beginning of your next turn.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.

Abiding Form

Also at 6th level, you are the sole master of your being. You are immune to having your form altered or disguised against your will.

Improved Disguise

At 14th level, your connection to mimics and shapechangers has grown stronger. Whenever you cast a spell that alters your form and makes you take on the ability scores of the new form, you only do so for ability scores where the new form’s scores are higher than your own. In addition, other creatures have disadvantage on Intelligence (Investigation) and Wisdom (Insight) checks made against you while your form has been altered or disguised through spells or your Morph Shape feature.

True Mimicry

At 18th level, you’ve mastered the art of bodily mimicry. You learn the Shapechange spell, which counts as a sorcerer spell for you and doesn't count against your total number of spells known.
