Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

Guardians of teaching and learning, paladins who undertake the Oath of Curation seek out and protect sources of arcane and divine knowledge. Some spend most of their lives protecting vast libraries, while others may dedicate entire decades to tracking down and recovering a lost tome. They make enemies of any who would corrupt knowledge or use it for selfish purposes. Most common practitioners of this Oath are paladins of deities whose domains include knowledge and magic, although any paladin who cherishes the sacred teachings of their deity or order could take up the mantle of this Oath.

TENETS OF CURATION

The tenets of the Oath of Curation have been observed by an elite few for years uncounted. This oath emphasizes the principles of protecting knowledge above any concerns of law or chaos. Its four tenets are printed in braille upon the first page of the paladin's holy book.

Curate the Lore. See to it that all sacred texts and scrolls are kept in the proper curation, preserve such things and let no defilement come to them.

Seek the Text. Lost knowledge is the most dangerous kind, recover it wherever it may be found.

Safeguard the Erudite. Those who learn and teach are more precious than the purest gemstone, never let them come to harm.

Let Not the Gifts of the Gods be Corrupted. Strike down any who would do evil with the lore you protect, never succumb to the temptation found in such knowledge.

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Arcane Sundering. As an Action, you can use your Channel Divinity to infuse your weapon with the power of the Weave for 1 minute. The next time you strike a creature with your weapon, you may consume one of the creature's spell slots and perform a Divine Smite with it. The level of the spell slot consumed is equal to your Proficiency Modifier (Maximum 5th). Once a spell slot has been consumed by this feature, the Arcane Sundering ends.

Conscript the Mechanical. You can use your Channel Divinity to utter divine words that render arcane constructs vulnerable to your commands. As an action, you present your holy symbol and attempt to control Constructs within 30 feet of you. Each Construct within a 30 ft radius must make a Wisdom Saving Throw against your spell save DC, or become charmed by you for 1 minute. This feature bypasses the charmed condition immunity, and a creature whose CR is equal to or greater than your Paladin level has advantage on their Saving Throw against it. A Construct that succeeds on this Saving Throw becomes immune to this feature for 24 hours.

Aura of Erudition

Beginning at 7th level, your body becomes intertwined with the Weave around you, allowing you to loosely redirect the flow of magic in your vicinity. As long as you are conscious, you and creatures of your choice within 10 feet of you have advantage on Saving Throws against spells.

At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.

Arcanist's Bane

Starting at 15th level, once per long rest, you may cast Counterspell at your current maximum spell slot level without expending a spell slot.

Additionally, you gain advantage on Arcana and Religion checks to identify spells.

Weavekeeper

At 20th level, you can temporarily become one with the Weave, taking on an appearance you choose. For example, your eyes and veins might glow blue, Celestial script might crawl across your skin, or your body might look like the starry night sky.

Using your action, you undergo a transformation. For 1 minute, you gain the following benefits:

  • Spells of 5th level and lower have no effect on you unless you allow it.
  • You gain a 60 feet flying (hover) speed.
  • Enemy creatures within 10 feet of you have disadvantage on saving throws against your paladin spells and Channel Divinity options.
  • Your Divine Smite feature can deal Force damage instead of Radiant.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
