Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks that follow the Way of the Granite Guardian count themselves lucky to be blessed by one of the creatures that they consider holy. Gorgons, gargoyles, and the like are trusted as protectors within their temples, and to be reborn in their likeness is an honor above all else.

Granite's Blessing

When you take this subclass at 3rd level, your skin becomes like stone, smooth and strong. When you would take damage, you can expend a ki point and your reaction to harden your body, petrifying yourself as well as any objects on your person until the start of your next turn. While you are petrified, you do not become incapacitated, and do not automatically fail Strength and Dexterity saving throws. You also retain the ability to move, speak, and remain aware of your surroundings while petrified.

In addition, you learn to read, write, and speak Terran and Primordial.

Stone Guardian

Also at 3rd level, your statue-like body allows you to take blows meant for others. As a bonus action, you can call upon the Gorgon’s power, forcing foes to face yourself instead of your allies. Until the start of your next turn, whenever a creature other than yourself within 30 feet would be hit by an attack, you can force the attacker to make a Wisdom saving throw (no action required). On a failed save, the attacker is forced to attack you instead, or otherwise lose the attack.

Stony Faced

At 6th level, your blessing further settles within yourself, protecting mind and body alike. Creatures have disadvantage on Wisdom (Insight) checks made against you, and you have advantage on saving throws against mind-reading and mind-altering effects.

As an unintended side effect, you also have advantage on Charisma (Deception) checks and saving throws against effects that would force you to laugh.

Repulsive Visage

At 11th level, the fools who would strike those under your protection shall be met with your rebuke. Whenever a creature is hit by an attack while under the protection of your Stone Guardian feature, the attacker takes psychic damage equal to one roll of your Martial Arts die, as your grim visage looms over the transgressor.

In addition, you can use your Deflect Missiles feature while you are petrified without expending your reaction. When you do so, you can’t use the Deflect Missiles feature again until the start of your next turn.

Gaze of the Gorgon

At 17th level, you learn to lift just a sliver of the stony veil between your eyes and the rest of the world, bestowing the Gorgon’s blessing upon another. As an action, you can cast the flesh to stone spell. Wisdom is your spellcasting modifier for this spell. When cast in this way, the spell does not require concentration. After this spell ends, the target becomes immune to its effects for 24 hours.

A creature can willingly fail this spell’s saving throw, and you can cast this spell on yourself using a mirror or other reflective surface.

Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest.
