Base Class: Cleric
Pray to an Ancient Dragon and gain their power. This subclass is based around a more combat-oriented cleric play style. Unlike any other cleric subclass. This one is designed around your Channel Divinity and uses for it in combat. Rather than simply aiding a certain task or healing teammates, this class’ Channel Divinity is versatile in combat, dealing lots of damage by morphing parts of your body into dragon-like appendages. This subclass aims to put you in the front lines, and makes you choose carefully which ability scores will make you the most effective killing machine. This subclass has room for flavor as well, and isn’t limited to a certain alignment or goal. The means of your character acquiring this power can also vary. Maybe they don’t even know they have these powers. This subclass’ Channel Divinity affects are purposefully vague in description, leaving room for imagination while still explaining what each affect does. I hope to receive helpful feedback on this subclass, as right now, it is only the base idea, and is in no way polished.
Bonus Proficiencies
At 1st level, you gain proficiency with martial weapons and heavy armor.
Primeval Protection
Also at 1st level, you can become a bulwark of defense in combat. When a creature makes an attack against you, you can use your reaction to manifest a dragon scale shield on your arm and cast Shield at will, without expending a spell slot. Casting Shield using this feature however only grants a +4 to AC in comparison to its normal +5. It is important to note that you do not need to have the spell Shield prepared in order to use this feature.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier (a minimum of once). You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Channel Divinity: Dragon Knight
Starting at 2nd level, you can use your Channel Divinity to unleash mighty arsenal of dragon-like abilities.
You can now speak and understand Draconic if you don't already.
You gain the ability to use a new Channel Divinity: Dragon Arsenal, and by spending one use of Channel Divinity, can of the following actions:
Talon Wave - You may slam the ground, making several large spikes protrude from the earth below you in a 15ft radius. Each creature in the radius must make a DEX saving throw or take 2d6+(Constitution Modifier) piercing damage. If a creature succeeds the DEX saving throw then they will take half damage. You can do this as an action.
Dragon Lance - You may take an aggressive stance, using your dragon-like power to manifest a large spear and thrust it at a singe opponent. The spear has a 15ft range. When rolling to attack with the spear, make a standard attack roll with a chosen weapon you have equipped against a creature within 15ft of you that you can see and add (Constitution Modifier) to the roll. When determining the damage of the spear, roll the standard damage you would deal if you made a normal attack with the previously chosen weapon and add 2d8+(Constitution Modifier) damage type of the chosen weapon to the target. Manifesting the spear will not affect your equipped items in any way and disappears immediately after this action is taken. You can do this as an action.
Winged Charge - You may sprout wings, channeling the wrath of the Dragon and charge. You move 20ft in a straight line in the direction of your choice. Any creatures in the designated line must make DEX saving throws or take 2d4+(Constitution Modifier) bludgeoning damage and be knocked prone, or half damage on a successful one. While moving this way, creatures cannot take opportunity attacks against you, and you can use this action to cross gaps or holes. You can do this as an action. Also, whenever you take this action, you may use your bonus action to attack anyone within range of the line’s path, adding 1d8 to the damage roll.
Dragon’s Prowess
At 6th level, the will of the dragon has granted you strength. You are now proficient in Athletics and Acrobatics if you aren’t already. If you are already proficient in those skills, you double their bonuses.
You also gain a new Dragon's Arsenal ability:
Scaled Terror - When you fail an intimidation check, you may use Channel Divinity to re-roll the check and add your (Constitution Modifier) in addition to any other bonuses to the roll. You must keep the new roll even if it’s lower than the previous.
Dragon’s Energy
At 8th level, you embrace the Dragon's energy, and use it to fuel your attacks. You can spend your bonus action to add 1d10 piercing damage to the next attack roll you make. The damage increases to 2d10 at level 15. If you get a critical hit against a creature, the bonus damage is doubled as well. It is important to note that this feature cannot be used with any Dragon's Arsenal ability, with the exception of Dragon Lance.
You also get a new Dragon's Arsenal ability:
Dragon Orb - You may concentrate the destructive power of the Dragon into an orb that you throw at an enemy within 60ft or 90ft but with disadvantage. When you roll to hit with the Orb, add your (Constitution Modifier)+(Proficiency Bonus). The Orb does 3d6+(Constitution Modifier) force damage. You can do this as an action. Also, whenever you take this action, you may use your bonus action to attack a creature within 5ft of you and add 1d8 to the damage roll.
One with the Dragon
At 17th level, you have mastered the way of the Dragon, increasing your abilities substantially. You now have a permanent +1 to the amount of Channel Divinities you can use between long rests. In addition to this, all Channel Divinities obtained through this subclass have been upgraded:
Talon Wave - When rolling for damage for Talon Wave, add 2d6 to the roll. You can now control the range of Talon wave, being able to choose between 5ft, 10ft, the standard 15ft, and a now farther 20ft.
Dragon Lance - When rolling for damage for Dragon Lance, add 2d8 to the roll. If you choose to use the Dragon's Energy feature and Dragon Lance hits your target, you may add an additional 1d10 piercing damage. Dragon Lance now has a 20ft range.
Winged Charge - When rolling for damage for Winged charge, add 2d4 bludgeoning damage to the roll. In addition to the ability to use your bonus action to attack a creature within 5 ft of the line’s path, you can now attack twice using the same bonus action, adding 1d8 force damage to the damage rolls of both attacks.
Scaled Terror - When you re-roll your intimidation check using this Channel Divinity you now do so with advantage.
Dragon Orb - When rolling for damage for Dragon Orb, add 2d6 to the roll. Dragon Orb also has a new maximum range of 90ft. If you decide to take the bonus action to attack a creature, you add 2d8 to the attack roll instead of 1d8.

Posted Jun 5, 2019I was thinking of converting this subclass to warlock, as I feel that is a better fit for some of the features of this subclass. If anyone reads this, let me know of ways I could improve or change this to be more balanced and fun, thank you
