Base Class: Ranger
Through an impressive feat or incredible trust, you have bonded with a dragon. Your deep knowledge of the natural world has taught you to cultivate the primal magical connection between you and your companion. The dragon has imprinted itself to your very soul and shares in your connection while growing strong enough to aid you in battle.
Dragon Bond
3rd-Level Dragon Bonded Feature
You have bonded with a dragon wyrmling. Though very young, it is a magnificent magical creature, sentient beyond compare and has chosen to follow you. As you guide and deepen your bond with them, they learn and grow at an accelerated rate. You are no master to this creature but with cultivated trust, the imprint you share can be unbreakable.
Your dragon companion has the following changes: Your chosen creature's challenge rating is equal to or lower than your Proficiency Bonus. Its Armor Class is changed to 13 + your Proficiency Bonus. Your creature's Hit Points are (5 + 5x your Ranger level) and has as many hit dice as your Ranger level.
In combat, the dragon shares your initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours. It can move and use its reaction on its own, but the only action it takes on its turn is the Dodge action, unless you take a bonus action on your turn to command it to take another action. That action can be the bite attack in its stat block or some other action but not its breath weapon. You must use an action to direct your dragon to use its breath weapon from its stat block. If you are incapacitated, the dragon can take any action of its choice, not just Dodge.
Soul Bound - If the dragon dies all is not lost. Through your bond, you may cast Resurrection without spending the material components to do so. You may do so once per long rest and only on your dragon companion. After casting the spell, you and your dragon companion will each suffer the effects of being brought back from the dead as your connection is bound at the soul.
Dragons Call - As long as you and your dragon are on the same plane, you will always know how far and in which direction they are located. You may call your companion by expending one ranger spell slot at which point, you will take ten minutes to finalize your call. Your dragon companion will travel to the best of its ability to get to you.
