Base Class: Paladin
Paladins who take the Oath of Rebellion declare themselves sworn enemies of tyrants and oppressors of all stripes, from cruel taskmasters who exploit the workers who toil beneath their lash, to iron-fisted rulers whose domains are founded on injustice and corruption.
Tenets of Rebellion
Although the tenets the Oath of Rebellion may vary by individual, they are all predicated on the necessity of subverting and overthrowing power wherever it is abused.
Defiance. Be the first dissenting voice. Speak up for those who are afraid to do so.
Empowerment. Only those who can protect themselves can be truly free from tyranny.
Accountability. Those who wield power must wield it justly, or answer for its misuse
Stewardship. A fair and just system of government is precious, and must be safeguarded.
Channel Divinity
When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.
Free from Bondage. As an action, you present your holy symbol and end any spells or magical effects causing one creature you can see within 60 feet to be paralyzed or restrained, or reducing its speed.
Retaliate. You inspire an ally to strike back when attacked. When a creature within 60 feet who can hear you is attacked, you can use your reaction to allow that creature to make a single attack against the creature that hit it. This attack takes place after the triggering attack is resolved.
Oath Spells
You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed.

Aura of Defiance
Starting at 7th level, you emit an aura out to 10 feet while you are conscious. Friendly creatures (including you) that drop to zero HP while in this aura can make one attack before falling unconscious.
At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.
Rise Up
Beginning at 15th level, targets of your Channel Divinity gain temporary hit points equal to twice your Paladin level, and have advantage on attack rolls until the end of their next turn.
Overthrow
At 20th level, as an action, you can imbue your allies with the force of righteous justice. You and all friendly creatures that you can see gain a bonus to damage rolls equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum 1) for 1 minute. This bonus damage is radiant damage.
Once you use this ability, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.

Posted Jul 21, 2022Thank you for making a subclass for this that isn't overpowered and is properly worded and easy to understand. You explained everything super well and everything's thematic for a rebellion paladin. The way it involves other players in "rebelling" against enemies that hit them, makes this class seem like it would be super fun to have at any table. No useless abilities either. Wouldn't change a thing.
I haven't playtested this, but based on what I've seen from my own homebrewing experience, this class shouldn't have been too hard to make. There aren't a bunch of abilities that need to be integrated with dnd beyond, just simple abilities that are passive and always work. So it seems like there's very little room for there to be glitches or things that need to be changed to make work such as charges per day, spell save DC's, custom actions, ect.

Posted May 31, 2020very nice. its not as flasy as osme others but i think its nice to have a toned down classes. it doesn't break the rules much and that make it an easy pick or addition i think, you don't have to feel guilty about what it will do to the balance. meanwhile the idea of sparking the rebellious spirit in people comes through very clearly. well done.
