Base Class: Rogue
As an archetypal Gambler, you excel at judging the odds of success in any situation and bluffing your way into and out of trouble. You rely on your quick hands, but also on your finely honed ability to read the words and deeds of other creatures to determine their true intent. You’ve always felt like luck has played a strong part in your life, no matter how long a run of bad luck lasts, your fortunes have always seemed to turn just when you needed them to. You’re not sure if you are the cause of this, or if you’ve caught the eye of the goddess of luck Tymora herself. Either way, you’re never afraid to roll the dice.
Reading the Tells
Whenever you make a Wisdom (Insight) check to determine whether a creature is lying, treat a roll of 7 or lower on the d20 as an 8.
Flip a Coin
Gamble: Gamble features represent your ability to bend the fabric of fate itself. You will unlock multiple versions of Gamble as you aquire levels in this subclass.
You may use any of your gamble features a number of times per long rest equal to your proficiency modifier.
When your DM asks for an ability check or saving throw, you may flip a coin or roll a D20 choosing either odds or evens before you roll. If you accurately predict the result you receive advantage on the roll, if you guess wrong you receive disadvantage.
Snake Eyes
Whenever you roll a one on an ability check, saving throw, or attack roll, you may reroll the D20 and if the result is a second one, the result becomes a critical success instead of a critical failure.
Double Down
Gamble: When you are about to make an attack roll you may announce to the DM that you wish to double down, increasing your chance of a crit.
If you double down, the score required for a critical success becomes 19 or 20, but the score for a critical fail becomes 1 or 2. You may also choose to go double or nothing, making the corresponding values 17-20, and 1-4.
Loaded Dice
You now have advantage on sleight of hand and deception checks.
Russian Roulette
Gamble: Your willingness to tempt fate has reached its highest potential. You are now willing to wager even with your own life.
Once per long rest you may choose to play Russian Roulette. When you do this you wager your own HP for the chance at a devastating attack. If the following attack hits, you deal 4x damage, if the attack misses you take damage equal to 75 percent of your max HP.
