Base Class: Bard
Music and words are far from the only way to inspire allies. Bards of the College of Breakfast are seasoned cooks using bold flavors interwoven with powerful magic to rejuvenate and invigorate their companions by cooking healthy meals at the beginning of each day. These bards learn their trade not only from extravagant experimentation, but from the sharing of food and advice. They learn from others how to exquisitely fry a slab of bacon, how to expertly bake a loaf of sweetbread, and how to boil an egg to egg-cellency (hahahaha). Cooking utensils are their instruments of choice, the sizzling of sausage is the music they create, and recipes to perfectly browned Omelettes are the lore that they gather.
Bonus Proficiencies
When you join the College of Breakfast at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with cook's utensils and improvised weapons.
Invigorating Breakfast
Also at 3rd level, you learn how to cook a delicious Breakfast infused with beneficial magic. When you finish a long rest, you may expend a number of uses of your Bardic Inspiration equal to your Charisma modifier (to a minimum of 1) to create a Breakfast. This Breakfast has a number of servings equal to the number of Bardic Inspiration uses you expended.
When you create the Breakfast, you may choose two different courses from among the courses described below, which determines the kind of food the Breakfast consists of. Any creature who eats one serving of the Breakfast gains the benefits from all the chosen courses.
The following courses are available to you when you create a Breakfast.
- Bacon. The most powerful of all meat. When you create this Breakfast choose a damage type from Acid, Cold, Fire, Force, Lightning, Necrotic, Radiant, or Thunder. Any creature who eats a serving of the Breakfast gains resistance to the chosen damage type.
- Bread. Loaves, rolls, muffins, pancakes, pastries, and waffles are all products of bread, which increases agility, especially with your magic weaved into it. Any creature who eats a serving of the Breakfast may use their bonus action to take the disengage or dash actions.
- Dairy. Cheese, cream, butter, and milk are all dairy products. This is an objective fact, just like how dairy possesses inherent bone-strengthening properties that increase the physical capabilities of those who consume it. Any creature who eats a serving of the Breakfast gains advantage on all ability checks and saving throws made to resist being grappled, pushed, or knocked prone.
- Eggs. What once was the infantile life of some bird or lizard now provides life to your body. Any creature who eats a serving of the Breakfast gains a number of temporary hit points equal to your Bard level + half your Charisma score, rounded down.
- Fruit. Your Breakfast contains berries, apples, tomatoes, or even the occasional exotic fruit, which all serve to awaken the senses of anyone brave enough to eat them. Any creature who eats a serving of the Breakfast gains advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks, and gains a +5 bonus to their passive Wisdom (Perception).
- Vegetables. Beans, mushrooms (technically not a vegetable but who cares), and potatoes are the most common Breakfast vegetables, though all vegetables carries the same stimulating properties, which your magic only heightens. When a creature who eats a serving of the Breakfast rolls for initiative, they may roll two d20s, using the higher result.
All benefits the creature gained from eating the serving of Breakfast last until the creature takes a long rest. After one hour, all uneaten servings of the Breakfast lose their magical properties, granting no benefits other than those granted by eating regular food.
The Scent of Breakfast
Starting at the 6th level, you can use your action to weave an intense sensory magic, causing all creatures who are currently benefitting from the effects of your Breakfast to re-experience its incredibly invigorating scent. Each creature who experiences this scent gains one of your Bardic Inspiration dice (though you need not expend any uses of your Bardic Inspiration), and may spend it normally, as though it were gained through the use of the Bardic Inspiration feature. Once you use this feature, you may not use it again until you have finished a long rest.
Additionally, when you create a Breakfast, you may choose 3 different courses to include, rather than 2.
Iron Chef
You learn how to cast iron.
Starting at the 6th level, once per turn, when you make an attack using a cooking utensil, you may use a d8 in place of the normal damage dice.
Additionally, when making a melee attack with a cooking utensil, you may treat it as though it had the finesse property.
Just a Bit of Seasonin'
Starting at the 14th level, you learn the power that salt, pepper, and the power of love can have on an egg-cellently cooked Breakfast. when you create a Breakfast you may choose to season one serving. Any creature that eats the seasoned serving gains one of the following benefits (your choice) in addition to those otherwise granted by the Breakfast:
- The creature gains resistance to Bludgeoning, Piercing, and Slashing damage.
- The creature gains advantage on all ability checks.
- The creature's walking speed doubles and it gains a flying speed equal to its walking speed.
The chosen benefit lasts until the creature finishes a long rest.
