Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

Brutes are simple warriors who rely on mighty attacks and their own durability to overcome their enemies. Some brutes combine this physical might with tactical cunning. Others just hit things until those things stop hitting back.

Brute Force

Starting at 3rd level, you’re able to strike with your weapons with especially brutal force. Whenever you hit with a weapon that you’re proficient with and deal damage, the weapon’s damage increases by an amount based on your level in this class, as shown on the Brute Bonus Damage table.

Brute Bonus Damage

Fighter Level            Damage Increase

3rd                              1d4

6th                              1d6

10th                            1d8

13th                            1d10

16th                            1d12

Building Momentum

At 3rd level, you gain proficiency in the athletics skill if you don’t already have it. If you have proficiency in the athletics skill, you now have expertise in the skill.

Grapple Champion

Also, at 3rd level, you've combined grappling into your powerful strikes.  When you hit with an unarmed strike or a one-handed weapon attack and you have one hand free, you can grapple the target or push it away from you 5 feet.

The grapple DC equals 8+proficiency bonus + strength modifier.  The target must make a strength saving throw in order to escape the grapple or resist being pushed away.

At 11th level, attacks that hit automatically grapple or push the target (no save for the target).

Pushing the target increases the distance to 10 feet.

Brutish Durability

Beginning at 7th level, your toughness allows you to shrug off assaults that would devastate others.

Whenever you make a saving throw, roll 1d6 and add the die to your saving throw total. If applying this bonus to a death saving throw increases the total to 20 or higher, you gain the benefits of rolling a 20 on the d20.

Power Slam

In addition, at 7 level you’ve put all your brute force into one massive strike.  Once per turn, you can use a bonus action melee attack against a creature you’ve grappled and use a slam attack that deals 3d6 bludgeoning damage on a hit.  You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus.    You regain the ability to perform this when you finish a short or long rest.

The damage increases by 1d6 when you reach 9 level (4d6), 13 level (5d6), and 17 level (6d6).

Additional Fighting Style: Double Grapple

You control the battlefield better than before.  You can grapple two creatures at a time with each free hand as long as the creatures are medium or smaller.

Devastating Critical

Starting at 10th level, when you score a critical hit with a weapon attack, you gain a bonus to that weapon’s damage roll equal to your level in this class.

Survivor

At 15th level, you attain the pinnacle of resilience in battle. At the start of each of your turns in combat, you regain hit points equal to 5 + your Constitution modifier (minimum of 1 hit point). You don’t gain this benefit if you have 0 hit points or if you have more than half of your hit points left.

Brute Strength

Brute Strength

Beginning at 18th level, your extensive training bears fruit allowing for unfathomable feats of strength.

You count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift.

You gain the following abilities:

  • Power Strike

Add an additional die of your weapon’s damage to each attack you make.

  • Power Grab

You are now able to grapple huge creatures using your strength athletics skill.  Also, moving a grappled creature no longer halves your movement as long as the creature is no more than one category size larger than you.
