Base Class: Rogue
Rogue Subclass: The Charmer
The Charmer is a rogue who knows that sometimes the pen truly is mightier than the sword—or in their case, the smile mightier than the blade. These rogues possess an uncanny ability to navigate both social and perilous situations with the kind of wit, allure, and sheer audacity that leaves even their enemies second-guessing themselves. Whether they’re whispering sweet nothings to gain entry into a fortress, convincing a guard to hand over the keys, or manipulating a rival into betraying their allies, Charmers excel at weaving deception and charisma into an art form.
Charmers are unpredictable in their methods. They could be the life of the party, winning hearts and minds with a dazzling grin, or they could be the shadowy figure who always seems to know exactly what to say to pull the strings of others. For these rogues, trust is just another tool to wield, and loyalty can be bought, borrowed, or stolen.
Subclass Features
Level 3: Silver Tongue
At 3rd level, you refine your words into weapons sharper than any blade. Your mastery of persuasion and deceit allows you to dominate conversations and sway opinions with ease.
- You gain proficiency in Persuasion and Deception if you don't already have them. If you are already proficient in these skills, your proficiency bonus is doubled when making ability checks that use them.
- Additionally, whenever you make a Charisma (Persuasion) or Charisma (Deception) check, you can treat a roll of 9 or lower as if you had rolled a 10.
With this feature, your silver tongue ensures you rarely fumble socially, making you a key player in situations where words can do the heavy lifting.
Level 3: Beguiling Aura
Your presence is magnetic, drawing attention and bending emotions to your will. As a bonus action, you can activate your Beguiling Aura, enchanting those around you.
- Creatures of your choice within 30 feet must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier). On a failure, they are charmed by you until the end of your next turn.
- While charmed, these creatures cannot target you with attacks or harmful abilities and have disadvantage on Wisdom (Insight) checks to discern your intentions.
This aura lasts for 1 minute or until you are incapacitated. Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
This ability lets you control the battlefield subtly, turning attention away from you and forcing opponents to hesitate—sometimes just long enough for your allies to act.
Level 9: Whispered Promises
By now, your words have become so persuasive they almost carry magical power. Your ability to plant ideas in the minds of others is unparalleled.
- You can cast the Suggestion spell once without expending a spell slot or requiring verbal components.
- When casting Suggestion this way, you do not need to speak the same language as the target, as your intent is understood through tone and body language.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of once). You regain all expended uses after finishing a long rest.
Whispered Promises lets you manipulate creatures outside of combat just as effectively as in battle, making it a signature tool for infiltration, negotiation, and strategic misdirection.
Level 13: Cloak of Confidence
At 13th level, your unwavering poise and charm are so pronounced that even your enemies falter when attempting to harm you.
- As a reaction when a creature targets you with an attack, ability, or spell, you can force them to make a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier).
- On a failed save, the creature must target a different creature or lose their action entirely. On a successful save, the creature has disadvantage on any attack roll or ability check against you until the end of their turn.
Cloak of Confidence gives you unparalleled control over your adversaries' decisions, ensuring that even when cornered, your sheer force of personality can provide a lifeline.
Level 17: Master of Hearts
At 17th level, your charm transcends mortal limits. You can turn entire crowds into allies with a single word or gesture.
- As an action, you can target a number of creatures equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of one) within 60 feet who can see or hear you. Each creature must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier) or be charmed by you for 1 hour.
- While charmed by you, creatures view you as a trusted friend and ally, going out of their way to protect and assist you. However, the charm ends early if you or your allies harm a charmed creature.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
Master of Hearts solidifies your position as the ultimate manipulator, allowing you to turn the tide of even the direst situations by swaying the hearts and minds of your enemies.
Playstyle and Role
The Charmer is designed for players who enjoy taking a commanding role in social and narrative situations while maintaining rogue combat proficiency. This subclass is ideal for campaigns rich in intrigue, negotiation, and espionage, where guile and charisma are as vital as stealth and blades.
While less focused on raw damage, the Charmer excels at creating opportunities for their allies and controlling the battlefield in subtle but powerful ways. They blur the line between ally and adversary, proving that a rogue’s deadliest weapon is often not a dagger, but their smile.

Your mastery of deception and persuasion lets you effortlessly extract wealth and valuables from others. As an action, you can target a number of creatures equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of one) within 30 feet who can see or hear you. Each target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier) or be charmed by you for 1 minute.
While charmed in this way:
- A creature cannot knowingly take hostile actions against you.
- As a bonus action on your turn, you can compel a charmed creature to hand over one item they are holding or carrying (such as a weapon, coin pouch, or valuable item). They willingly comply, seeing no reason to refuse.
Once a creature succeeds on their saving throw, they are immune to this effect for 24 hours. You can use this feature once per long rest.
