Base Class: Barbarian
Some barbarians channel their fury into a relentless and methodical pursuit, becoming predators that stalk their foes with an instinctive cunning. Those who follow the Path of the Endless Hunt blend brute strength with calculated tracking, ensuring that once they have set their sights on a target, there is no escape. Whether they are vengeful warriors seeking retribution, expert bounty hunters, or primal apex predators, their patience and ferocity are unmatched.
These warriors do not strike wildly. They study their prey, learning its weaknesses before closing in for the kill. The hunt is a sacred ritual—one that ends only when their prey draws its final breath.
Level 3: Mark Prey
"Once a hunter locks onto their prey, there is no escape. Whether through instinct, experience, or sheer determination, you single out your target and focus on the kill."
As a bonus action, you mark a creature you can see within 60 feet. The mark lasts for 1 hour or until the creature dies. You can only have one creature marked as your prey at a time.
-
Hunter’s Study. You can take the Study action against your prey, using Survival instead of another required skill.
While raging, the following effects apply to your mark:
-
Relentless Predator. Your prey has disadvantage on attack rolls against creatures other than you.
-
Endless Pursuit. If your prey moves more than 30 feet away from you, you can use your reaction to move up to your speed toward them. This movement doesn’t provoke opportunity attacks. You can use this ability a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
-
Ruthless Strikes. The first time you hit your prey with a weapon attack on your turn, it deals an extra 1d8 damage (2d8 at 10th level).
-
Yawning Hunger. If your prey dies, you can immediately mark a new creature as your prey as a reaction.
Level 6: Cunning Trapper
"Hunters adapt to their terrain, turning the battlefield itself into a weapon. Your trap might be a subtle shift in the ground, an unseen force that punishes hesitation, or the sheer weight of your killing intent forcing your prey into a fatal mistake."
As a bonus action, you can Disengage and set a trap near a creature within 5 feet of you during your movement. Until the start of your next turn, the first time the target willingly moves 5 feet or more, it takes 3d8 force damage and its speed is halved until the end of its turn.
At 10th level, this damage increases to 4d8 force damage (5d8 at 14th level). If the trapped creature is your prey, it takes an additional 1d8 force damage, increasing to 2d8 at 14th level.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
Level 10: Relentless Harrier
10th-level Path of the Endless Hunt feature
Your brutal strikes disorient and weaken your prey. While raging, when you use Brutal Strike against your prey, you can choose from one of the following additional options:
Terrorizing Blow: Your prey must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier) or be frightened of you until the end of your next turn.
Hobbling Strike: Your prey’s Speed is reduced to 0 until the start of your next turn.
Additionally, you have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks and can detect the presence of creatures within 60 feet, even if you can’t see them, as long as they are moving or breathing.
Level 10: Predator's Insight
"Every movement, every breath, every flicker of hesitation—nothing escapes your notice. A true predator doesn’t just chase their prey; they understand them, predicting their every move before the kill."
When you activate your Mark Prey feature, you can take the Study action against your prey as part of the same bonus action. Additionally, the mark now lasts for 8 hours or until the creature dies or you select a new target.
Level 14: Apex Predator
"Your hunt has no boundaries. You can track a wounded enemy across worlds, their fate already sealed. When the moment comes, your strikes are devastating—merciless, efficient, and final."
-
Mark Prey no longer has a duration, ending when the creature dies or you select a new target.
-
When attacking a bloodied creature, you deal an extra 1d8 damage.
-
Your weapon attacks against bloodied prey score a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20.
-
You always know the direction of your prey as long as they are on the same plane of existence.
