Base Class: Monk
Monks who follow the path of the shinigami stare into the eyes of death each time they meditate. As a result of staring too long into the void, aspects of death came back with them and manifested itself in their ki.
Monks who master their meditations gain a macabre acceptance of the death all things will eventually face. As a result, these individuals hold no fear of death, and infuse their ki with it's decaying power in order to cripple their foes.
These monks also rarely catch a glimpse beyond the void of death, to the fate that awaits the very soul itself after the mortal shell has ceased to function. Most people do not like to hear this however. Some people see these visions as being an affront to what they believe their god has in store, some are frightened. Because of this, these monks are known to be given a wide berth. A lot of practitioners of this path of martial arts do not let others know their discipline as a result.
Withering Fists
As you meditate, and see the void of death in all of it's splendour, death attaches to you, charging your ki with it's essence.
Starting at level 3, you can use one ki point once per turn in order to add 1d8 in necrotic damage to an attack.
Aspect Of Death
Whilst meditating on the inevitability of death, you embraced some of the tenents of death. These teachings allow death a foothold in the material plane, hiding within your ki.
Pick one aspect of death to make use of at level 3, one at level 10, and one more at level 15.
Aspect Of Acceptance
As you start down your foes, you convince them to simply accept the inevitability of death.
Spend 3 ki points as a bonus action to force a single creature that can hear you to make a wisdom saving throw. If the target fails, their ac is lowered by 2 until the end of their next turn. Your spell save DC is equal to 8 plus your wisdom modifier, plus your proficiency modifier.
Aspect Of Anger
When a loved one dies, some people feel cheated by death, and are angered by it. You can use the power of death you harness in order to cause your enemies to succumb to uncontrollable rage.
If you are the target of an enemy melee attack, you can use your reaction to spend 2 ki points and force the enemy to make a wisdom saving throw. If the target fails, their attack is instead redirected to another creature within 5ft of them. If there are no other creatures nearby, their attack simply misses you.
Your save DC is 8, plus your wisdom and proficiency modifiers.
Aspect Of Darkness
After death, only nothingness remains for those who are left stranded without that, and your death infused ki can give those unfortunate souls a small glimpse of the void to come.
As a bonus action, you can spend 2 ki points to exude an aura of magical darkness in a 10ft radius from your person until the start of your next turn. All creatures in this darkness, besides yourself and any creature with truesight, cannot hear or see anything.
Aspect Of Fear
After having fought your fear of death as a result of your training, you can show your enemies the true horrors of what lies beyond the mortal coil.
As a bonus action, you can spend one ki point to force a target to make a wisdom saving throw. If they fail, they are considered frightened of you until the end of their next turn.
Your save DC for this technique is 8, plus your wisdom and proficiency modifiers.
Aspect Of Madness
The horrors of what can await in the afterlife can drive a man insane. Your ki is capable of entering the very spirit of your enemy and showing them these incomprehensible terrors.
As a bonus action, you can spend 2 ki points to force a target to make a wisdom saving throw. If the target fails, they take 2d4 psychic damage, and falls prone, head in their hands trying to shake the horror from their mind.
Your save DC is 8, plus your wisdom modifier and your proficiency modifier.
Aspect Of Suffering
After reflecting through your meditations, you realise that life for many is pure suffering, and they would be better off if they embraced death.
If you land a flurry of blows attack, you can spend 2 more ki points to make another unarmed strike, which deals necrotic damage instead of your default damage type.
Aspect Of Worship
It is not unheard of for even the most non-religious of individuals to find faith on a deathbed to comfort them on their final journey. With your power, it may not be unreasonable for a foe breathing their last to think of you as a god of death.
You can spend 2 ki points to cast the charm person spell as a bonus action.
Your save DC is 8 plus your wisdom modifier and your proficiency modifier.
Death's Touch
The Deathly Ki that grants you power is now strong enough to manifest itself through you entirely.
Starting at level 6, at the start of each turn, you can choose whether your unarmed strike will deal their normal damage type, or necrotic damage.
Approaching Shade
Death can strike swiftly, suddenly and silently before the one chosen can even react to this fate.
Starting from level 11, once per turn by spending a ki point you can fade into black fog, and drift 30ft in any direction. You can use this feature 1 + your constitution modifier times per short rest.
Decrepitation
As inevitable as death, is too the decay of the husk that the soul leaves behind. At times, death begins to hunger, and you can satiate it by beginning your enemy's decomposition early.
Starting at level 17, as a bonus action, you can spend 4 ki points to force your victim to make a constitution saving throw. If they fail this save, they take 5d8 necrotic damage and gain a point of exhaustion, and only take half damage on a success. A creature can only be given one point of exhaustion via this method.
Your save DC is 8 plus your wisdom modifier and your proficiency modifier.
