Cleric
Base Class: Cleric

Doomguides are devoted followers of Kelemvor, god of the dead, whom they serve, along with the people of Faerûn, by helping mortals deal with their fears of death and existence after the fact. In order to help combat these fears, many of which are tied to the works of necromancers, doomguides also serve as elite divine spellcasters who seek out necromancers and their undead servitors to destroy them and bring a measure of peace to the world.

To doomguides and their god there is no greater abomination than the undead and doomguides train throughout their careers to free these souls and send them on their way to the City of Judgment. To aid them Kelemvor grants his priests some measure of his power and grace, instilling doomguides with a power over death that fills the undead and their masters with fear.

As the Doomguide progresses in level, their rank within the church increases, as well. Each rank provides new duties while also providing benefits to aid them in their execution.

Level 3: Doomguide Domain Spells

Cleric Level Prepared Spells
3 Healing Word, Inflict Wounds, Gentle Repose, Aid
5 Revivify, Speak with Dead
7 Aura of Life, Death Ward
9 Antilife Shell, Raise Dead

Level 3: Shepherd of Souls

Starting at 3rd level, you gain the ability to manipulate the line between life and death. When you would normally roll one or more dice to restore hit points with a spell to a creature at 0 hit points, you instead use the highest number possible for each die.

In addition, you learn the Spare the Dying cantrip, which doesn’t count against the number of cleric cantrips you know, and you can cast it as a bonus action.

Level 3: Reaper's Mark

Starting at 3rd level, you can use your Channel Divinity to mark another creature’s life force for termination.

As a Magic, you choose one creature you can see within 30 feet of you, cursing it until the end of your next turn. The next time you or an ally of yours hits the cursed creature with an attack, the creature has vulnerability to all of that attack’s damage, and then the curse ends.

After you reach 5th level, you can make a single melee attack with your greatsword as part of this action. If you hit, you can spend and roll any number of unspent Hit Dice and apply the amount as additional radiant damage to the target.

Level 3: Whispers from the Beyond

The voices of departed souls echo in your mind and lend you access to magical power in your time of need. At 3rd level, you can choose a cantrip from any spell list. The chosen cantrip counts as a cleric spell for you but does not count against the number of cleric cantrips you know. When you finish a long rest you can replace the chosen cantrip with any other cantrip of your choice.

Level 6: Courier of the Faith

Doomguides serve Kelemvor in a manner different than the clergy's other priests, acting as couriers between his temples and bringing aid to everyone across the lands. They are expected to travel far and wide, to spread Kelemvor's teachings regarding the afterlife. At 6th level you can summon a ghostly steed to aid you in these missions. Once per long rest, you can cast Phantom Steed as an action without expending a spell slot. The spell's duration increases to a number of hours equal to your Doomguide level.

Level 9: Liberator of Undeath

To defend themselves, experienced Doomguides built up a resistance to necrotic energies. At 9th level, you are granted resistance to necrotic damage, and your hit point maximum can't be reduced.

Level 13: Warden of Death

At 13th level, Doomguides are tasked with the eradication of necromantic practices. When you deal necrotic damage to a creature you can choose to inflict radiant damage instead, and vice versa.

Level 17: Champion of Kelemvor

At 17th level, your devotion to the Lord of Death is rewarded with the following: You gain immunity to necrotic damage; While wearing heavy armor, you have resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from nonmagical attacks.
