Base Class: Monk
Warriors of the Sun Soul learn to channel their own life energy into searing bolts of light. They teach that meditation can unlock the ability to unleash the indomitable light shed by the soul of every living creature.
(This is a revised version of the Way of the Sun Soul Monk subclass found in Xanathar's Guide to Everything for the purpose of adapting it to the 2024 Rules.)
Level 3: Light Bearer
You know the Light spell. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for it, and you can cast it without requiring spell components. You can choose to target yourself as the source, emitting glistening light through your skin.
Level 3: Radiant Sun Bolt
You gain a new attack option that you can use with the Attack action or with your Bonus Action. This special attack is a ranged spell attack with a range of 60 feet. You are proficient with it, and you add your Wisdom modifier to its attack and damage rolls. On a hit, a creature takes one roll of your Martial Arts die of Radiant damage, and until the end of your next turn, it emits Dim Light in a 10-foot radius and can’t benefit from the Invisible condition.
Moreover, you can spend 1 Focus Point to make the special attack twice as a Bonus Action. When you gain the Heightened Focus feature, you can attack thrice instead of twice while expending a Focus Point.
When you gain the Extra Attack feature, this special attack can be used for any of the attacks you make as part of the Attack action.
Level 6: Searing Arc Strike
You gain the ability to channel your Focus into searing waves of energy. As a Magic action, you can spend 2 Focus Points to create a flash of searing light. Each creature in a 15-foot Cone makes a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, each target takes three rolls of your Martial Arts die in Radiant damage and have the Blinded condition until the end of your next turn or only half as much damage on a success.
You can spend additional Focus Points to increase the damage. Each additional Focus Point increases the damage by one additional roll of your Martial Arts die. The maximum number of Focus Points that you can add up equals your Wisdom modifier (Minimum of one).
Level 11: Searing Sunburst
You can expend 4 Focus Points to cast the Sunbeam spell without spell components. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for it. If a creature within 30 feet of you hits you while you are concentrating on the spell, you can take a Reaction to deal Radiant damage to the creature equal to one roll of your Martial Arts die plus your Wisdom modifier.
Level 17: Scorching Daybreak
Upon being reduced to 0 hit points, you can expend 5 Focus Points to project the radiance of your soul outwards and rekindle your life force (No action required). When you use this feature, you can designate creatures to be unaffected by it. You instantly regain hit points equal to three rolls of your Martial Arts die plus your Wisdom modifier, and creatures within a 30-foot Emanation from you must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, each target takes five rolls of your Martial Arts die of Radiant damage and has the Blinded condition until the end of your next turn or half as much damage only on a success.

Posted Nov 17, 2025Here are the notes for all the revised features for the Way of the Sun Soul:
Light Bearer. New. Basically a ribbon feature that goes with the flavor of the subclass.
Radiant Sun Bolt. Radiant Sun Bolts may now be used as a Bonus Action without requiring a Focus Point and its range has increased from 30 to 60 feet. It now uses the Wisdom modifier instead of Dexterity for attack rolls and damage to stay consistent with the other features in the subclass. It also takes inspiration from the Starry Wisp spell for its secondary effect to give extra utility against Invisible creatures and scales with the increased Martial Arts die and the new Heightened Focus feature.
Searing Arc Strike. This feature has been revamped to become a unique action to the subclass instead of casting the Burning Hands spell. This allows it to scale with the Martial Arts die and apply the Blinded condition on a failed Constitution save to make for a solid option against crowds of enemies.
Searing Sunburst. This feature has also been revamped to no longer make it redundant with the Elemental Burst feature from the Warrior of the Elements. It now allows to cast the Sunbeam spell by expending 4 Focus Points and it incorporates the old Sun Shield feature by allowing the user to take a Reaction to retaliate against attacks in a 30-foot Emanation while concentrating on the spell.
Scorching Daybreak. New. Replaces the Sun Shield feature. Allows to expend the durability of the Warrior of the Sun Soul at a high cost by granting it the ability to instantly heal itself upon being reduced to 0 hit points and deal damage and apply the Blinded condition on a failed Constitution saving throw in an area of effect.
