Base Class: Barbarian
The Path of the Fractured God is walked by those cursed or engineered to contain divine remnants far beyond mortal understanding.
These barbarians are not fueled by anger alone, but by containment failure. Their bodies crack beneath impossible pressure as radiant fractures spread across their flesh like shattered stone. Every battle threatens to loosen the seal upon the entity imprisoned within them.
Most Fractured Gods are feared as monsters, mistaken for demons, titans, or failed gods reborn in mortal flesh. In truth, they are victims carrying burdens never meant for living beings.
As their rage deepens, reality distorts around them. Light bleeds from their fractures, emotions manifest physically, and the divine force within fights violently to escape.
Some eventually lose themselves entirely, others learn to weaponize the catastrophe.
Emotional Leakage
The entity sealed within your body leaks fragments of emotion and intent into the world around you.
Creatures with proficiency in Insight automatically sense that something is deeply unnatural about your emotional state, even if they cannot determine exactly what.
In addition, while raging, you have disadvantage on Charisma (Deception) checks and saving throws against effects that would force you to relive memories, emotional trauma, or overwhelming fear.
During moments of intense stress, your fracture-light may activate involuntarily at the DM’s discretion.
Level 3: Fractured Awakening
At 3rd level, the divine remnant sealed within your body begins to awaken during moments of intense emotional stress and violence.
While you are raging, glowing fractures spread across your body and emit dim light in a 10-foot radius.
In addition, when a hostile creature you damaged during your turn is reduced to 0 hit points within 30 feet of you, you gain one Remnant charge (maximum equal to your proficiency bonus).
You may only gain one Remnant charge per turn.
As a bonus action while raging, you may consume one Remnant charge to gain temporary hit points equal to your Barbarian level + your Constitution modifier.
The divine presence within you radiates oppressive emotional force. While raging, you gain advantage on Intimidation checks.
Level 6: Manifested Pressure
Beginning at 6th level, the pressure of the sealed entity within you becomes physically overwhelming to nearby creatures.
While you are raging, a field of unstable divine force radiates from you in a 10-foot radius.
Whenever a hostile creature starts its turn within this radius, you may force it to make a Wisdom saving throw. The DC equals 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier.
On a failed save, the creature cannot take reactions until the start of its next turn and has disadvantage on the next attack roll it makes before the end of its turn.
You may use this effect a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
In addition, whenever you consume a Remnant charge, you may immediately move up to 10 feet without provoking opportunity attacks.
The air around you fractures subtly while this ability is active, causing light, sound, and emotion to distort unnaturally.
Catastrophic Manifestation
At 10th level, the seal within your body weakens enough for the divine remnant inside you to partially manifest during combat.
Once during each Rage, when you reduce a hostile creature to 0 hit points or score a critical hit against a creature, you may unleash a wave of unstable divine force.
Creatures of your choice within 15 feet of you must succeed on a Constitution saving throw. The DC equals 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier.
On a failed save, a creature:
- takes force damage equal to 2d8 + your Constitution modifier
- is pushed 10 feet away from you
- cannot take reactions until the start of its next turn
On a successful save, the creature takes half damage and suffers no additional effects.
During this manifestation:
- your fracture-light violently intensifies
- shadows and sound distort unnaturally around you
- your telepathic presence becomes overwhelming and impossible to ignore
Broken God State
At 14th level, you can no longer fully contain the entity sealed within your body.
When you enter a Rage, you may choose to unleash a Broken God State for the duration of that Rage.
While in this state:
• You gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed and hover slightly above the ground.
• Your reach with melee weapons increases by 5 feet.
• Once on each of your turns when you hit a creature with a melee attack, you may force it to make a Wisdom saving throw. The DC equals 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier.
On a failed save, the creature becomes overwhelmed by divine terror until the start of your next turn. While terrified in this way:
- its speed becomes 0
- it cannot take reactions
• Your fracture-light becomes blinding, shedding bright light in a 20-foot radius and dim light for an additional 20 feet.
• The area within 10 feet of you becomes difficult terrain for hostile creatures as reality distorts beneath your presence.
When your Rage ends while using this feature, you gain one level of exhaustion
