Base Class: Monk
Monks of the Way of Tomorrow's Arrival are rumored to have mastered the ways of projecting their spirits through time and space to teach their past selves what they come to learn in the future. Whether this is true or not, none can deny that masters of this tradition have uncanny reflexes and seem to always be 2 steps ahead. Learning to attune their spiritual selves to the ocean that is time, they sense all within its eddies and currents. All things within it, how they are shaped, how they move, and how they are changed, these things and deeper secrets are just a part of the journey into tomorrow.
Be in the Moment
3rd-level Way of Tomorrow's Arrival feature
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can anticipate the actions of those around you even if you cannot see them. You gain +5 to your Initiative, and cannot be surprised by attackers. Hidden and concealed attackers do not have advantage when attacking you.
When in combat with any creature, you can empower yourself with one of the following bonuses:
- You gain bonus AC equal to your proficiency bonus until the end of combat.
- You add your proficiency bonus to your save throws.
- You can dodge as a reaction against ranged attacks, and do so with advantage against melee attacks without expending a ki point. You can do this once before each of your turns.
Yesterday's Mistakes
3rd-level Way of Tomorrow's Arrival feature
Starting at 3rd level, even your failures are a part of the immutable path of the future. Roll damage for attacks that fail. This damage is added into a cumulative pool that does not dissipate until your character dies. These points can only be recovered if they are revived from death by use of the Resurrection or True Resurrection spells or equivalent abilities/effects.
Mantra That is to Come
6th-level Way of Tomorrow's Arrival feature
As a bonus action, you can spend 1 ki point to turn your ki into an aura of enhanced awareness. The aura extends 5 feet from you in every direction, but not through total cover. It lasts for 10 minutes, until you’re incapacitated, or you dismiss it (no action required).
While your aura is active, ranged attacks have disadvantage against you. Any other creature that moves into the aura will attack with disadvantage against you. You have advantage on attacks on creatures within the aura and those creatures have reduced AC equal to your proficiency bonus (only to your attacks).
Different Instance
Beginning at 11th level, you enter a balanced state of the here and now, and what is to be. While you have your Mantra That is to Come active, you gain the following benefits:
Tomorrow's Successes
17th-level Way of Tomorrow's Arrival feature
Everything that goes around eventually comes around. As a bonus action, you can expend 6 ki points to pull from what could have been to access the pool of Yesterday's Mistakes.
As a part of an attack action, you may bolster the attack with additional damage from this pool. Take the total amount of damage in the pool and round to the nearest 10, then divide by 10 (ex. 66 points of pool damage rounds to 70, then divided by 10 to get 7). The remaining number is the number of additional die you may add to total damage after a successful strike.
The dice added are whatever you rolled for your initial attack (ex. 7 Yesterday's Mistakes pool dice becomes an additional 7d10 for Martial Arts damage at level 17). The total damage becomes the number rolled plus the standard damage. This ability can only be used once, and then you must complete a long rest before you can use it again.
