Base Class: Bard
A guild of courtroom combatants, trained in the most brutal forms of legislative clashes. Utilizing their knowledge of legal loopholes and wielding terrifying powers of attorney to their advantage, these elite judicial vanguards often place themselves as statecraft soldiers of fortune. Each member of the assaultorneys will often adapt their own particular styles and tactics to fit their field and personal strengths, though there are several distinct disciplines that have become particularly well-known over time.
These include the lightning-fast adjudocators, the viciously persistent legislacerators, and the elite ranks of the most feared occult consults, the shadowy interrorgators. As a result of these divides in discipline and the vast array of moralities that are accepted into the ranks of these legal legionnaires, it is far from uncommon for two assaulttorneys to cross paths in their duties, resulting in particularly bloody exchanges of litigation, gruesome displays of prosecution and defense, as they strive to carry out their duties to their individual tenets of justice - and, more often than not, in accordance to their financial needs and ambitions.
Filibuster
If you can't debate, obfuscate. All Assaultorneys have to start somewhere, and a naturally silver tongue is a rare thing indeed. However, that doesn't mean that one's blunders cannot be used to advantageous ends. Upon failing any form of persuasion check or otherwise finding yourself losing ground in an argument or confrontation, once per interaction, you may roll one d6 to determine how many more conversational 'turns' you can extend an interaction by. Upon reaching level nine, this feature allows for the result of the d6 roll to instead be added to a d20 roll as bonus wisdom for that interaction. At level twelve, roll a d8 instead.
Party Paralegal
Perk No. 2,413 Of Living In A Turn-Based Fantasy Tabletop: Nepotism isn't illegal yet! And even if it was, you know your way around the block enough at this point to get away with it. When you achieve the experience in your legal field required to access this feature, you receive a boost to one base stat when asked to step in on behalf of any recognized member of your party. The bonus is decided by a d4 roll and applies to any situation where you are formally asked or hired to represent your buddies either to the bar or on the battlefield - though your stats revert to normal once the situation is considered 'concluded', even if just temporarily.
Unfortunately, such underhanded tactics do come at a cost. This feature's benefits can only be reaped once per day. Moderation is key in life. And also in not getting arrested and disbarred and also probably brutally murdered.
OBJECTION!
Sometimes words can only carry an assaultorney so far. It's not exactly a comfortable truth, but that's just the reality of law. Even now, you've begun to reach the higher echelons of your field and practice. Your reputation as a barrister is undeniable and your ability to both prosecute and defend with equal deftness has truly begun to come into its own. But even still, there will be times when convention will fail you. People will be stubborn, infuriatingly pedantic loopholes in your arguments will be found, the prosecution will keep badgering your witnesses, and even your own clients are going to spit in the face of your advice. But that's okay. Breathe. After all, this is all part of the life of delivering justice and representing those who cannot represent themselves.
But sometimes you just really need to deck a motherf-
(Once per day, you are able to land one guaranteed suckerpunch on a target while conversing, debating, or arguing with them. Though the hit is assured, the rolls for damage and so on proceed as normal from that point onward.)
