Base Class: Bard
The College of Dance is one of the most physically and emotionally intense bard colleges there is. It’s one thing to be in peak physical shape, but in the college of dance bards have to learn to connect with the weave through their body and emotion in order to cast their magic.
Dancing is a form of art, and choreography is a way to shape that art. When a bard projects their art form through magic they must find the right way of shaping it. Most bards of dance spend decades, refining and memorizing the right choreography to shape the weave. Though there are some naturally gifted bards, who find a free formed approach to dance establishes a stronger connection with the weave.
Magic of Dance
When you join the College of Dance at 3rd level, you establish a physical and emotional connection with the weave. You gain the ability to use dance as a spellcasting focus.
Physical Grace
At 3rd level, your intense physical training in dance has gifted you with immense grace and balance. You gain expertise in the Acrobatics and Performance skills.
Additionally, while you are wearing no armor and not wielding a shield, your AC equals 10 + your Dexterity modifier + your Charisma modifier.
Dancer’s Recital
Also at 3rd level, whenever a round of combat begins you may choose to give up your turn and spend the round performing a ritual dance that enhances inspired allies. When you do this you can give your turn actions to creatures that possess a Bardic Inspiration die from you. If multiple creatures possess a Bardic Inspiration die, you can dispense your turn actions among them however you like.
Giving a creature your turn actions works differently depending on the action.
- Action or Bonus Action, a creature can use these actions twice during their turn, this includes casting one extra spell as if it’s a new round, as long as the spell speed matches the turn action given.
- Reaction, a creature can use a reaction twice throughout the round.
- Movement, a creature doubles their movement speed.
While focusing on the ritual dance, creatures have advantage on attacks against you. If you take damage, roll a Constitution check to maintain concentration on the ritual. If you lose concentration, the dance ends and unused turn actions can no longer be used.
Once you use this feature you cannot do so again until you finish a short or long rest. At 6th lvl you can use this feature twice.
Extra Attack
Beginning at 6th level, you can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.
Dance Partner
Additionally at 6th level, after finishing a short or long rest, you can choose one creature to be your Dance Partner. Your Dance Partner receives a special Bardic Inspiration die, this Bardic Inspiration die doesn’t count as a use of your Bardic Inspiration. Your Dance Partner cannot be targeted by your Bardic Inspiration as they already have one.
This special Bardic Inspiration die lasts for 24 Hours and can be used by your Dance Partner a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum 1), but it does not go away after all uses are expended. Your Dance Partner can only use their Bardic Inspiration die while within 30 feet of you. It functions the same as a normal Bardic Inspiration die, but can also be added to any healing or temporary hit points your Dance Partner receives.
You can choose a different Dance Partner or renew your current Dance Partner’s Bardic Inspiration die after finishing a short or long rest.
Aura of Elegance
Starting at 14th level, as an action, for 1 minute you can activate a magical aura that radiates from your body. This aura empowers your allies. Creatures you choose within 30 feet of you can add a die equal to your Bardic Inspiration to any damage roll they make.
This aura dissipates if you’re knocked Unconscious.
Once you use this feature you cannot do so again until you finish a short or long rest.
